MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (March 5, 2025) – West Virginia University Athletics will introduce a new Mountaineer Athletic Club (MAC) per seat contribution model for season tickets in the WVU Coliseum, beginning in the 2025-26 season. The revamped seating model for men's basketball will create a more simplistic and equitable approach to purchasing season tickets and will align with the football season ticket model. MAC members will see increased transparency on the front end when making decisions on parking, annual benefits and season tickets.

The per seat contribution also will be combined with any other donations made to West Virginia Athletics, including contributions to the Country Roads Trust, to determine your overall Mountaineer Athletic Club membership level. This integration enhances your MAC priority ranking, which is used to determine your order for seating and parking selections.

Fans can access the per seat season ticket model landing page HERE, for all information on men's basketball season tickets for 2025-26 and beyond. The site features expanded information on the model, a pricing calculator and frequently asked questions to assist in planning for the future.

Under the new model, 30% of season ticket holders will experience no increase or even a decrease in their overall season ticket cost, and 50% will experience an increase of less than $250.

Fans looking to purchase new season tickets at the “get in” price will see a 25% decrease of the season ticket cost in select areas of the Coliseum with 45% of the upper-level seating not requiring a MAC per seat contribution. The per seat contribution model aims to expand access to season tickets by strengthening the connection with our most devoted fans while welcoming the next generation of Mountaineers.

“Collegiate athletics is undergoing the most transformational period in its history. As we adapt to these shifts, the need for innovation, strategic planning and sustainable revenue generation has never been greater,” WVU Vice President and Director of Athletics Wren Baker said.

Backed by extensive analysis, the new model brings WVU into line with the majority of Power 4 schools already using or adopting a similar approach. It aims to create fair and affordable ticket options, while increasing access to prime seating locations.

WVU will offer resources to guide fans through the season ticket model change:

• The per seat season ticket model landing page offers full information on the model, including a customizable calculator, timeline, and frequently asked questions.

• MAC and Mountaineer Ticket Sales and Service Account Managers are available for one-on-one conversations, which can be requested HERE.

• All current season ticket holders and MAC members will receive additional information in the season ticket renewal mailing in the coming months

.

For the 2026-27 Men’s Basketball season, West Virginia Athletics will conduct a seat adjustment, giving season ticket holders the flexibility to select options that best suit them within the new pricing structure. Following the long-established priority point system, rankings will lock in on May 1, 2026, determining the order of seat and parking selection. Detailed information on the seat adjustment process will be released in the coming months.

The landscape of Power 4 collegiate athletics is evolving rapidly, driven by new revenue demands, shifting governance structures and an increased focus on athlete support and NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) opportunities. As programs compete for top talent and resources in a high-stakes environment, we must adapt to meet heightened financial needs to sustain national competitiveness. This evolution requires WVU Athletics to create sustainable financial models to thrive in a demanding era of college sports.
