We can debate the variables but Neal Brown's WVU career is off to the worst start (13-15) by a WVU head football coach since Frank Cignetti (17-27) based soley on the wins and losses (and some cases ties).

If Brown was fired today, he would become one of 7 Mountaineer head coaches to end their career with a losing record. Brown's overall win percentage (.464) is one of the lowest in school history - 7th lowest out of 34 head coaches

As previously referenced, Cignetti is the only other coach since Gene Corum from 1960-65 with a losing record. Corum went 29-30-2. Prior to that you have to go all the way back to Greasy Neale in 1931-1933 to find a WVU football coach with a losing record.

If Brown doesnt right this ship, he will be among the worst coaches in WVU history in terms of winning percentage.

We have only had 6 coaches in WVU history with a career losing record - 2 only coached 1 season and 1 of them only coached 1 game.

1891 - Frederick Emory 0-1
1896 - Thomas Trenchard 3-7-2 (.250)
1913 - Ed Sweetland 3-4-2 (.333)
1931-1933 - Greasy Neale - 12-16-3 (.387)
1960-65 - Gene Corum 29-30-2 (.475)
1976-79 - Frank Cignetti - 17-27 (.386)

I know that some will say that you have to give him more than three years which is fair but you can compare Neal Brown first three years to our most recent successful coaches in terms of winning percentage:

Neal Brown - .464
Dana Holgorsen - .553
Bill Stewart - .692
Rich Rodriguez - .540
Don Nehlen - .667
Bobby Bowden - .676
Jim Carlen - .500 (includes to 3 ties)
