I was pumped when they hired him but it was definitely time to cut ties!! He’s the type of coach you know won’t get into any type of trouble either. Plays by the rules type of guy.

It didn't work out for him but he was worth a chance when we hired him, and his family is set for life no matter what he does. Couldn't have happened to a nicer family, sincerely. I wish him the best in his future endeavors whether it's coaching or something else.

judge him by the content of his character and what he is assumed to have done for the kids he has influenced to become men. Those of us who have a little time under our belt........ the wins and loses might matter today because they are emotionally driven, but not really tomorrow when looking at the impact him might have on developing men of the future.

Thank you Mr. Brown for your contributions to the Mountaineer Nation, even if not in the win column of a game. You won with the student athlete who will go on to become a leader in the life they lead, as a winner, as a champion.

There is nothing wrong with giving him a shot and it not panning out. There is something wrong with the bar being so low to get an extension that makes him untouchable for so long.

Next time if we make a jump from 4 to 7 wins can our AD keep its cock in their pants? If that scenario plays out again and Mississippi State wants to pay us a bunch of money to buy him out early just let them. I don’t mind dump trucking a coach with money to lock them up for life, but atleast win 10 games in convincing fashion first.

Notice who he didn't mention? The fans.

He didnt? You should read it again...

The truth doesn't lay within the words of the wussy goons posted above. The reality is that he is lucky he came to WVU as opposed to most schools, where he would have been run out 3 years sooner. The WVU fan base stayed loyal longer than any other would have even though his coaching sucked bad. He won the lottery here and ppl still like him just not his coaching.

People need to understand it takes a dick to lead men. Men don’t follow nice and gentle men. Blame it on evolution and the hierarchy of the animal kingdom. Neal Brown would be your best buddy who you would let Marry your sister or daughter. There’s a difference. You know it. Anyone who played organized sports understands what I’m talking about. Successful leaders are borderline obsessive compulsive biopolar personalities with highs and lows.

This is the 100% truth. Nice guys finish last when it comes to leading men. He is an awesome dude but not at all a leader. No winning attitude, no sense of urgency, etc. Just as bland as can be as a coach.

Don Nehlen son in law is one best QB WVU has ever had.

Being a dick doesn't mean you're a good leader or a coach. It just means you're a dick.

A good leader has the confidence to stand alone, the courage to make tough decisions, and the compassion to listen to the needs of others.

Good leadership inspires, motivates, and holds you accountable for your progress.

Brown couldn't communicate to his players. He also was too loyal to a certain extent. To players and assistant coaches. This cost him often. He was stubborn and unwilling to stop things that weren't working.

All around great guy but not a coach for this level.
