INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The 3-point line is moving back in college basketball.

The NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel announced Wednesday that the arc will be moved to 22 feet, 1 ¾ inches for the 2019-20 season, matching the international distance.

The change will not go into effect in Division II and III until 2020-21 due to the potential financial impact on schools.

The 3-point line was last moved in 2008-09, extending a foot to 20 feet, 9 inches.

The panel also approved resetting the shot clock to 20 seconds after an offensive rebound and gave coaches the ability to call live-ball timeouts in the last two minutes of the second half and any overtime period.

Players also will be assessed technical fouls for derogatory language about an opponent’s race, religion, sexual orientation or disability.

Smartest thing Rootmaster has said.

Makes the stretch 4's and 5 even more important. Pretty much makes CBB a little more like the NBA without a lot of isolation.

Stretch the defense out with 5 shooters.
Ball movement and movement without the ball.

Helps more athletic and longer teams that can shoot.

Welcome to the NBA college minor leagues. Players can now be called up from college to G league and if not drafted will return to college. Gives new meaning to college athlete.

This will fit right in with paying players a salary.

Good percentage of players are looking to play pro basketball.
If not in the US then elsewhere.

You have coaching. The NBA coaching is much better plus the coaching in the G League.
College Basketball coaches are there to win games. Some coaches will put aside development for this. Plus some coaches have systems totally different than the NBA.

College Basketball is going to be more like College Baseball.
Coaches who can develop are the ones who will win because a lot of the top talent will be going elsewhere.
Especially with the G League.

More and more players will go to Europe straight out of High School.

Last week when Little Elm (Texas) High School point guard R.J. Hampton surprised the country and chose a professional career in New Zealand over college the question became: Will Hampton’s move start a trend with the country’s top players?

“Everyone thinks that going to college is the norm,” Hampton said in his exclusive video to USA Today Sports. “But for younger guys that don’t know, this is an option out here. Elite players you can have this option.”

In 2008, Brandon Jennings became the first high school player to take the prep to overseas route when he opted out of his letter-of-intent to Arizona to play in Italy.

What really ought to be done is eliminate dunks...have to shoot layups like the game was before it began to deteriorate. Also wouldn't hurt to start calling travelling and palming the ball to get skills back into the game.

I don't know about eliminating dunks, but traveling, palming, 3 seconds, charging need to be addressed. There needs to be more D in the game. Right now the O is straight line drive and get fouled if you don't kick it out first. .
