The best season the Herd has had in 15 years didn't translate into increased tickets sales or attendance. In fact Marshall lost MORE money than usual.

But the fact still remains WVU only has 3 OOC slots available. 2 are going to P5 schools. 1 is for guaranteed home game every year. Marshall wants $500k more than our usual fee for visiting schools. That's $1.5m loss for the 3 home games. WVU makes $3m for home and neutral site games. So add in another $3m loss for the one game at Marshall. That's a $4.5m loss for a 4 game series.

WVU is prepared to pay about $10m a yr for the new stipends and full cost of college. Now is not the time to lose over $1m a year just to help save the Herd FB program.

Looking at these figures......

why give MooU a dollar more than any visiting team? Just having WVU on their schedule is a plus for them in any given season, even with all the games at Morgantown. Taking the herd team up state to MPS saves the Moo ADept travel expense compared to most anywhere else they could go. WVU is already doing them a huge favor letting them play us. No, they deserve no extra money playing us. They get the extra media coverage and hype that goes with them having us on their schedule, if it ever happens.

Herdies gets the same money as any other G5 school would, with all games in any series with them at MPS. THAT's good for the state. Any game at the Joanie would be a loss of money for WVU AND THE STATE. That's the true facts of the matter.

Just forget playing them at all. In anything. Yeah, we're scared. LOL

If what's good for the state is really that important to them, they would play in a conference or division in which they wouldn't have to take $7M/yr from the good taxpayers of WV.
