McKivitz Named to Preseason All-Big 12 Conference Team


MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – (July 9, 2019) - West Virginia University senior offensive lineman Colton McKivitz has been named to the Big 12 Preseason All-Conference team, today, as selected by media representatives who cover the league.


McKivitz is a three-year starter at tackle for the Mountaineers, playing in 38 games and starting 35. His 35 starts run consecutively and lead all returning WVU players in 2019. He is a two-time All-Big 12 Honorable Mention selection and a three-time Academic All-Big 12 Second-Team selection. He saw action on 950 plays in 2018, including 870 on offense and helped pave the way for the offense to average 512.3. yards of total offense per game, ranking No. 2 in the Big 12 and No. 10 nationally.


The all-conference team includes 10 seniors, 12 juniors and seven sophomores. Six players were first-team selections at their position, including Kansas running back Pooka Williams Jr., Oklahoma State wide receiver Tylan Wallace, Oklahoma tight end Grant Calcaterra, Iowa State defensive back Greg Eisworth, Texas defensive back Caden Stearns and Texas Tech Adrian Frye were named to the 2018 All-Big 12 First Team, while 12 were on the second team.


Selections for the preseason individual awards were quarterback Sam Ehlinger (Texas) as Offensive Player of the Year, linebacker Kenneth Murray (Oklahoma) as Defensive Player of the Year and Jalen Hurts (Oklahoma) as Newcomer of the Year.


The Big 12 media preseason poll will be released on Wednesday, followed by the annual Big 12 Football Media Days to be conducted in Arlington, Texas, on July 15-16. Both days will be televised live from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. ET on FS2, FCS Central and other regional FOX Sports affiliates.
