Cartier Diarra (K-State) collected Big 12 Men's Basketball Player of the Week while Miles McBride (West Virginia) was selected Big 12 Newcomer of the Week. Both received their first weekly award.

Diarra poured in a career-high 25 points, including the game-winning 3-pointer on a step-back with 22.4 seconds left, to help K-State beat Tulsa and snap a two-game losing streak. It marked his third career 20-point game, including his second this season. The junior guard's six 3-pointers were a career-high. He also added a game-high seven assists and five rebounds in 33 minutes. Diarra has six or more assists in nine of 12 games.

McBride scored a game-high and career-high 21 points in No. 22 West Virginia's win over No. 2 Ohio State. He shot 50 percent from the field (6-of-12) and 3-of-4 from 3-point range. The freshman guard also had two assists and one steal. The win was WVU's first over a Top 5 team away from home since defeating No. 2 Kentucky in 2010 in the NCAA Tournament.
