Can't blame him. My OL coach was a sadist. Thank God, I was a tight end and only had to deal with him for only part of practice.
He used to punch guys, cussing and insults were part of the course. There were no options other than to quit once he got it in for you. I was glad when he died and that was thirty years after the fact, the SOB.
A bad coach can ruin a lot of kids & in those "no water and run some laps to shake it off" days guys keeled over from heat exhaustion regularly during preseason practice which was often three a days until they ran the "weaklings" off.
I thought they cracked down on a lot this b.s. in the 80's? I guess it just continued on in house.

Actually most HS and colleges did away with 2 a days about a decade ago. They were tough. In August playing football you couldn't wait for school to start to thank God you don't have to see those damn 2 a days for another year.
Football was tough for the people who needed it to be tough to get back into condition.
If you stayed strong through the summer it wouldn't be a problem
