BYU, the team that beat ECU on a last second TD at home last week? That's 3-3 ECU that is without their starting QB. Their backup led them to 518 yards of offense.
I didn't say they were, did I? However, there is very little P5 expansion talk that doesn't include BYU, so they are a P5 caliber independent. (BTW, Sagarin has them at 36 ... higher ranked than anybody on your schedule this year and 100 spots better than half of them)
Yes, we play Youngstown State next year who is currently sitting at 81 in the Sagarin ratings. Which would place them better than 3/4 of your schedule.

Georgia Southern 69, Iowa State 70, Maryland 86, ...that would be a huge improvement to your schedule. You're digging your hole even deeper.
I have no idea. I don't know if they'll try to bring somebody "up" again like they did with Edsall, or if they will go after a "name". I don't know why a name would go there though either. They used to be decent in the ACC, sometimes good, and now they are a bottom dweller in the B1G.

Well, they're awful so the bar is pretty low! They have the under armor founder in their corner so money will be no object. Thought you boys would play 'em every year forever, game makes sense.

It does. They canceled it for 2 years a few years ago to play Cal instead. I think they are the ones that are backing out of future dates as well, but I'm not sure. I know Dana has stated that he likes it and like the border rivalries, and also that he doesn't want to play FCS schools.
Games makes sense...I guess it a tacit admission by the Terps that they can't beat you and it hurts their recruiting....but they can't beat Cal either but don't recruit the same players!

I was talking to a couple OSU fans Saturday before the game and they were talking about how much they were enjoying themselves. I mentioned that our fans don't have the best reputation but that it's largely unwarranted. They mentioned how great everybody had been treating them and that the reputation was unwarranted, but also pointed out that in the Big XII we don't really have a rival. It's the rivalries that get fans fired up.

I was never a dick to anybody, but the rivalries did fire things up a lot more. I miss them. It has to be a regional thing and/or have a long history and with UMD backing out we don't have any of either anymore. Although we do have Pitt and Penn St. coming back in a few years. Of course for decades we were a rival to Penn St. the way a bug is a rival to a windshield. I don't think that gap still exists though. We haven't played them since 90-91 or so.
No question the backyard brawl should be played in perpituity. PSU and WVU is no longer a mismatch, if Temple can beat them so can you!

That was rough year..Rich trying to put round pegs in a square hole. I thought the Kansas loss was worse though.
The Kansas loss was bad, but it didn't hit me the way the Temple one did. I think because I remembered RRod's first year and all of those struggles so I kind of expected it and didn't panic. Not really expected it, you should never expect to lose to Kansas, but I expected the struggles and we'd lose some games that talent would dictate we shouldn't.
The most inexplicable " recent" loss was to Pitt when you boys had a shot to go the distance. I think that was the beginning of the end of RichRod!
Yeah, that was awful. Being a season ticket holder I was at that game and just kept waiting for something to happen and it never did. The worst coaching performance I've ever seen. Nothing is working and you don't make any adjustments ... We did get a Fiesta Bowl win over OK out of that season, but we should have been in the NC game, and I think we would have won it.
I ran into Owen Schmitt at BWs before they left for the Fiesta Bowl and this was after the announcement that RRod was leaving an all of that. I asked him how the team was doing and he calmly said "we're focused, we're ready". I could tell he meant it and felt great about that game going into it. He was about the nicest guy you could ever hope to meet too.
That's for sure. You know you do the arm-around-each-other thing for those pictures. I remember thinking "jesus christ, is this guy made of granite"
While that would lead to a drastically improved strength of schedule, it would also give you two or so extra losses. No way Doc and Mike have the balls for that...
Banker you sound like fool here, CUSA is a joke in football and most of us that know football Marshall is a joke too. Go back to your CUSA board and impress the other weak teams with your more smack talk, you do not belong here. WVU is in The Big 12 and play tougher teams than Marshall will ever face.
