Hillary Clinton’s team of aides and lawyers deleted emails from her private server using a software program intended to “prevent recovery” and hide traces of deleted files.
South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy revealed the information during an interview on Thursday on Fox News. Citing notes that FBI investigators took during their probe of Clinton’s private email server, Gowdy said that Clinton’s team used open source software called BleachBit to remove tens of thousands of emails from her server.
Gowdy said that the use of the program undermines Clinton’s claims that the emails she withheld from the State Department were innocuous. The former secretary of state has frequently said that the 30,000-plus emails she decided not to give the State Department in Dec. 2014 were about yoga routines and her daughter’s wedding plans.
Heather Samuelson, a longtime Clinton aide and former State Department official, oversaw the review of Clinton’s emails before they were given to the State Department. Clinton lawyer David Kendall and her former chief of staff, Cheryl Mills, oversaw the process.
The Clinton team’s use of BleachBit suggests nefarious motives, Gowdy suggested.
“If she considered them to be personal, then she and her lawyers had those emails deleted,” Gowdy said. “They didn’t just push the delete button, they had them deleted so even God couldn’t read them.”
A website advertising BleachBit describes the product.
“Beyond simply deleting files, BleachBit includes advanced features such as shredding files to prevent recovery, wiping free disk space to hide traces of files deleted by other applications, and vacuuming Firefox to make it faster,”the website reads.
Clinton has claimed that she gave the State Department all of the work-related emails she had in her possession by late 2014. But it was officially revealed last month that Clinton & Co. likely deleted a significant number of emails.
FBI director James Comey said that investigators had recovered “several thousand” work-related Clinton emails. Earlier this month, it was reported that the FBI recovered 14,900 Clinton records. They have been given to the State Department and will be released beginning in October.
Kendall, Clinton’s lawyer, told Gowdy in a letter last year that none of the emails Clinton declined to turn over to the State Department were recoverable. It is not clear at this point who ran the BleachBit program on Clinton’s server.

1. Context unknown, but of those emails scrubbed, Benghazi was detected as a subject. Will use another approach to search different channel
2. Judge ruled that the other Government Agencies holding emails about Benghazi will be turned over to Gowdy by Sep 13. Note: The following day, State Dept said they could not have ready before Dec 30. Let's see where it goes.
Bonus - On six o'clock news Trump was asked if he would pursue Hillary if he is elected. Suggested it has been discussed already. Is this the only way this vulture is going to be prosecuted? Wait for another administration to investigate her at DoJ?

The Trump campaign seized on reports Thursday that the Obama administration rejected requests from three FBI field offices that wanted to open public corruption cases involving the Clinton Foundation and Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
After banks alerted the field offices to suspicious activity involving the Clinton family charity, the FBI wanted to investigate conflicts of interest stemming from foreign donations during Mrs. Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state, CNN reported.
“Today’s news that President Obama’s Department of Justice overruled three separate DOJ field offices and the FBI in declining to open a public corruption charge against the Clinton Foundation shows a troubling pattern of Obama and Clinton politicizing any government institution for their own personal political interests,” Trump campaign spokesman Jason Miller said in a statement.
“This latest refusal to allow even a cursory investigation into the Clinton Foundation’s pay-for-play dealings smacks of political favoritism. This is exactly why the American public has lost trust in the U.S. government and is ready to elect an outsider like Donald Trump,” Mr. Miller said.
The revelation of the blocked corruption probe follows criticism of decision the Justice Department not to pursue criminal charges against Mrs. Clinton for her secret email setup as secretary of state, despite the FBI’s determination that she was “extremely careless” and mishandled classified information.

House has got to initiate impeachment proceedings against Obama as soon as they get back in town for Malfeasance in Office. I know time will run out, but it is the only message they can send to slow down his overbearing arrogance.

Hillary won't be a one termer baring a recession post election (which is a possibility). We've become a nation that expects something for nothing, where the sound bytes that Hillary and Trump spew are gobbled up by the masses and accepted as gospel.
Using software like they used is only used for a single reason, to prevent data recovery. Period. It's not conjecture. And while it may not be criminal (if used prior to any subpoena) it only highlights how disreputable she and her people are, and gives us an insight of what a shit storm our country will be in for should she be elected.
Combat troops deployed? Would love to see how they got those numbers, because that's slightly off by a couple 10s of thousands.
Unfortunately, Obama and associates determine what is legal/illegal. Appears his DoJ is going to run interference on every act by his side for the rest of the year.
Repub majority in the House can get his attention by initiating impeachment proceedings.
