MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (August 5, 2024) – Continued stadium improvement and fan enhancement takes another step at Milan Puskar Stadium for the 2024 football season with the installation of state-of-the-art LED lighting.

Custom designed by Musco Lighting, the stadium’s new LED system takes on-field lighting and visibility to a new level, while reducing energy consumption and enhancing the overall experience for players, fans and national television audiences

.

The Musco system provides uniformed, high-quality lighting with patented glare control technology that greatly reduces glare to provide premium light coverage and football tracking ability.

With Musco’s Total Light Control (TLC) technology, WVU’s game entertainment staff will have the ability to choreograph and customize light shows to music or without music during pregame, in-game, between quarters and after big plays from the home team.

In addition to gold and blue, color changing features in the new LED system can change or dim the stadium to many different colors during a light show, giving the entertainment staff multiple ways to showcase the capability of the lighting technology and energize the atmosphere.

Not only is the modern lighting system a benefit to the players on the field and the fans in the stands, but the whiter LED lighting experience will also provide an enhanced level of colors and viewing to the television audience to further showcase WVU and its football team.

“We are looking forward to debuting the new lighting system to our fans. In comparison to the older, more traditional light bulbs, LED lighting is not only more cost effective, but provides outstanding and bright coverage of the entire field,” Vice President and Director of Athletics Wren Baker said. “Light-to-music synchronization will be a fun addition to our game-day entertainment, and yet another major upgrade to Milan Puskar Stadium.”

A short video presentation of the new lights can be found on WVU football’s social channels or on WVUSports.Com.
