After starting the season 5 - 2 Tech goes 5 straight losses to finish the year.

Kliff in big trouble I think.

I can't understand how he survived the last few seasons. He has an overall losing record (the OOC is weak too). His conference record is worse and he's not breaking 500. I don't get it.

It's like our fans love of Dana..makes little sense but it happens

Well Tech is subsidized by the state of Texas.
Meaning that the state pays for some of their football program.
Unlike Texas and A&M

UNT is in the same place.
If Brent Venables doesn't take the job watch for Tech to bring in Seth Littrell and the state of Texas negotiates a buyout for North Texas

Given DH's track record he will probably end up on the Mountaineer staff. They are, after all, old drinking buds.

Could we make a trade? Send them our HC, DC and OC for Kliff and make him OC bring in a better HC.

Sounds like a fair trade.

He is out....

But he is a Top 5 OC/OB coach

He will ask for at least 750K a year or more.

Doubt WV pays upper six figures to seven figures for an assistant

If West Virginia is serious about winning, then they had better start spending money. Kingsbury would be a HUGE upgrade over Spavital. Kingsbury’s track record with quarterbacks is undeniable.

If you put everything together

Who pays top dollar for assistants

Who needs a coach with a proven track record for QBs

All the signs point to Kliff Kingsbury making a trip to BR after he is fired

Not saying he goes to LSU but LSU will make him a target

WVU needs to try and lure Randy Shannon from UCF to be our new DC.

Pfffft. Randy Shannon will NEVER coach at WVU.

See October 25, 1996 as the reason why. Not gonna get into details but not exactly the best moment for WVU or our reputation.

So was Dana's until he got here

I don't see any problem with WV at the QB position

Dana was never considered a QB guru

His area of expertise is WR.
He has done a great job at WV at developing great WR talent.

Any WR in your area should go to WV if they want to play in the NFL.

Dana has a list of NFL WRs going back to 2000 that would make any coach jealous

Truly we need to get Bro Cool as OC. Spat is likely to leave.

Fire Gibby. Bring someone who runs a real defense. Our tackling in space is beyond awful. Our STs are fine. That is the one branch that until the OU game actually improved as the year went on.

Suddenly we have a real chance to compete.

I wouldn’t be against hiring Kliff as HC on the cheap (2.5/yr) and pay Venebles 2 mil/yr and give him the keys to the defense. I literally would tell KK to turn off his headset when the offense is off the field.

Can we Hire ISU DC for head coach?

Funny how you stay around here and not a fan. OU 52 Texas 38

With the exception of Texas and Texas A&M, in-state Football Bowl Subdivison schools lean on university dollars in some capacity to help fund athletics. Here's where the eight schools stack up.

School Student Fees* Total institutional support* Total Revenue* Subsidy rate (%)
Texas State $18.18 $27.79 $38.44 72.28
North Texas $10.57 $21.4 $32.15 66.56
UTSA $12.22 $17.39 $28.77 60.43
UTEP $7.43 $18.49 $31.78 58.17
Houston $8.09 $25.7 $57.17 44.96
Texas Tech $3.27 $5.8 $88.8 6.53
Texas A&M 0 0 $211.96 0
Texas 0 0 $214.83 0

When I saw this, I thought, Texas Tech is crazy. Who do they think they are going to get?

And then I looked in the mirror.
