KIng: What were your thoughts on the "The game"? I suffered a financial defeat.

I said it last week, and will say it again today. I felt great about the Wolverine's chances when Tony bet the farm on Ohio State.

I also said 'if' Michigan could run the ball, run a bunch of time off the clock, and put pressure on CJ, then Michigan would have a chance. Oddly, Michigan didn't have time consuming drives, and was getting chunks of yardage at a time. Even odder, Ohio State had the ball for 33 minutes, and had at least a couple 6 minute drives. One has to wonder how the game would have played out, had Ohio State ever stopped Michigan in the 2nd half, and had the ball only down by 8. I would have probably had to stop watching at that point, for health considerations.

Yes, if you read my posts from last week you'll see I suffered the dreaded pay the juice weekend! Clearly the OSU "D" was the weak spot of their team and you guys just did whatever you wanted with the ball, OSU moved the ball as well but was plagued by drops and false starts and couldn't keep pace with your scoring.

I can cover that.....have your people call my people and we'll do lunch
Appreciate the offer bro but I dug out a couple of winners to for the most part cover the OSU debacle. Probably got a bit lucky betting on WKU, I thought the Herd was going to blow them out until Wells was lost for the day.

Football can be very simple, even in 2021. When you're playing in snow and wind in B1G country, you risk having your teeth kicked in if your philosophy is to throw the ball all over the lot, not worry about your defense or special teams, and think that you can just outscore the opponent with an explosive offense, and little else. Ryan Day, like Lincoln Riley and some of the other younger popular coaches, are good play callers and have innovative offensive minds, but need to hire assistant coaches who are capable of running a decent defense and special teams or they'll never win a national title. Urban Meyer has a good offensive mind, but also is able to coach special teams to play at a high level. Many Ohio State fans, especially young and "woke" ones, convinced themselves that Day was as good or better than Meyer, but they were wrong. Only a handful of coaches are able to win multiple national titles.

What was up with all the false starts?

I don't want to make excuses, as Michigan clearly deserved to win The Game, but the Buckeyes didn't handle the crowd noise well at all. This may have been because they hadn't had to deal with it much since 2019, due to the virus and/or they lacked the attention to detail needed to win a big game against their rival. If you recall, Ohio State was coming off of a complete demolition of Sparty, the only team to beat Michigan this season. I wonder whether they read too many of their own press clippings, and assumed that because they just killed the team that had beaten Michigan, last Saturday would be a cake walk. Big mistake, obviously.
