The K-State prez was tweeting about spending the week with the Big 12 commish in Atlanta and when a WVU fan said he hoped they were looking at expanding the KSU prez responds with, "What is good about more teams?"

Big East part 2....or should I say American Athletic Conference Part 2.

What is good about more teams would be ensuring as many BIG 12 teams as possible make it into the upcoming playoffs and the "BCS" bowls that will go with them (6 bowls including the Sugar and Rose)

The SEC showed without a doubt this season that if you have 14 schools that means many don't play each year. If you have a good league like the BIG 12 and SEC do, then not having all the top teams play each other every season can mean the difference between maybe one school or multiple schools being in the top four and top 12 (needed for BCS inclusion after 2014).

After this past basketball season its clear the BIG 12 could use some help with a better school or two--which means money for the conference when schools advance.

It also makes sense to provide closer matchups for WVU if possible which would require more teams.

If the playoff committee considers playing a conference championship as part of their selection of the top four (or even the top 12 for the other BCS level games) then the BIG 12 will need more teams to play a championship game.

Luck has been fairly quiet about the whole expansion in the BIG 12 thing. This means either it isn't as big of an issue for WVU and the BIG 12 as some have made it out to be and he is content everything is fine, the BIG 12 will be expanding and he knows the details but must remain quiet for now, or he is being silenced by the league office for some reason.

If WVU were actually in a bad situation, it is doubtful Luck would remain silent about it.

The entire landscape of college football is going to change in about

10 years (maybe less), where the distribution system for games will be so radically different that you won't need super conferences to assure access to exposure and revenue. All that will be matter will be in a "home" that gives you the current chance to compete at the highest levels.

the rest of the B12 has no clue, and it's sad. We have been through this, and it's looking like it will happen again. Everyone not named Texas or OU should be worried.

If they're not going to try to expand back up to 12 teams, then they should change the name of the conference.

Bowlsby recently hinted strongly of a tie-in with the ACC (east-west divisions) if UNC and Virginia go Big 10/14/16. Said you can get all the benefits of a super conference without expanding.

I'm shocked at the lack of willingness to get to 12 teams. I can't believe we're going down this road again.

It's not quite that cut and dried. The real hang up is the TV contract. That's the real stumbling block to adding more teams.
