Just the start of his second season there and Herman is already beginning to crack

One thing you can count on is Tom Herman being Tom Herman.
He is a little eccentric but he was like that before he got to Austin.

How the schedule sets up the next month actually will help Herman.

His next pitfall could be KState.

"Lennie wanted so badly to touch the rabbit and play with the rabbit -- he squeezed it so hard, he killed the rabbit," Herman said, noting he told linebacker Gary Johnson to read the book.

18-22 year old kids do not care.
Texas has never been a NFL factory.
They don't want to. Schools that are winning are the ones who tell the players you are here for football and not school.

Truthfully there needs to be dramatic changes with CFB.

Excuse-a-minute machine says Texas lost because...
1) Maryland is a much better school than advertised. Totally underrated.
2) The refs cheated Texas.
3) Texas just wanted the win too bad (Herman himself)
4) Texas is really an academic school and not a football factory like other schools.
5) The players were focused on the mid-term elections.
6) The coaches were focused on the injustice at the border.

His next loss could be USC.

His next loss could be Tulsa actually.

The USC game favors Texas. Their OL is horrible and their D is weak up the middle.

The Maryland game ended up how it did because of how their OLine played.

The narrative is forgetting that Maryland's OLine is the reason why they won.
Their OLine played for Jordan McNair.
Don't know if they can continue that play throughout the season but I am sure Texas' DLine who played a lot better in the second half will win a lot more battles than they lose.

Reason Maryland won is because Texas couldn't capitalize on Maryland mistakes.

2017 USC 27 Texas 24 - Texas last years score. Herman likes to lose to teams back to back.

Maryland didn't turnover the ball.
Texas averaged close to 3 TO's a game last year.
Then if you add in the 3 turnovers by Texas the game was a lot closer because Texas' DLine took over in the second half.
Not enough to the point of creating turnovers.

The SC game will be different because historically Herman is much better as the underdog.

Texas plays Tulsa this week so that game doesn't matter this week.

Message to UCF as we see UH magic fade with Herman....success in a G5 league with 1-2 quality opponents (including bowl) per year is very different than being ready for 10 of 13 that can beat you.

True
On the other hand you must stick with a coach longer than three years.
Charlie Strong was the exception because he looked beaten.

Tom Herman will get five. Even if it is a slow climb to the top after five we will see.
I doubt Herman will be stuck at 7-6 for five years.
I think at worse this team is 8-5 for 2018

You just lost to Maryland and you think you will go 8-5?

LOL.

You must be dyslexic.

Why not?
Texas went 7-6 last year losing to them.
Could have been 10-3 with one change in possession.

This was playing better QBs with no OLine/Run game at all.

Texas' run game looks a lot better as well as their D after week 1 of 2018 compared to 2017.

Tom Herman's back is against the wall.
Let's see what he and Texas is made of.

Perfect example would be Penn State 2016.
Started 2-2. After getting their heads kicked in by Michigan everyone counted them out.
Won 9 straight.
Texas as a whole has more talent than Penn St did in 2016 plus a weaker schedule.
Only thing is missing is a QB to step up and Saquon Barkley.
McSorley was not the man at this time.

You don’t have brains nor objectivity, but you have hope.

Maybe you could say the same for yourself.
Best week to lose is week one. Reason why is because it sets a tone early in the season.
Maryland is much better then when DJ Durkin first took over. His first year that team was 6-7. Injuries derailed them last year. Maryland is a bowl team for sure.
The question is now are they better than Michigan, Michigan St and Penn State.
I think they could be at worse 1-2 against those teams.
With all this Maryland is a 9-3 team.
I say anywhere from 8-4 to 10-2.

Not to mention Maryland was a motivated team playing for their teammate.

Back to Texas.
I think Texas is in the same position.
8-4 to 10-2. The Big XII is weak this year. This could happen easily.
It would have been nice for Texas to win 48-7 but I think that would have hurt them long term.
Now they have to dig deep to prove to the world who they are.
Turmoil and losses ultimately create toughness and champions.

1 of 2 things needs to happen:

1. You need sent for a drug test

and/or

2. This message board needs blow and go, because you are obviously toasted..
