His Special teams..........................

Joe DeForest has a wife and family.
I wish him the best.
I hoped he learned some things from his time at WVU.
I hope in time that he really does develop some good special teams at Kansas.
I'm sure that roster at Kansas lacks the kind of depth to provide decent players for special teams.
It wasn't his fault that Dana gave him an initial job and salary that was a bit over his head.

What is to be gained by slamming a man who is just trying to make his way through life?

Lots of guys have wives and families. The vast majority of them don't accept exorbitant amounts of money to do a job, while knowing full well that they aren't remotely qualified for the job, and then act like they have everything under control and the situation is fine. Remind me again, where did the funds for his over blown salary come from?

He's a public figure, so he's fair game for the criticism he receives. Also, trying to make his way through life? Seriously? How high handed do you really want to act?

I don't think you can blame wide right from 54 yards on the coach.
Joe Deforest was a really bad hire and at a lot of other schools such a poor job of running off two quality coaches and hiring that guy would have cost you your job.

Joe Defo is a very good ST coach. Some of our fans are still butthurt about him being the DC, which didn't work out. But as far as coaching the specialists, he is one of the best in the business.

have you heard about what is going on at Kansas? LOL!

I'm not trying to act high-handed. But are you going to tell me that if someone offered you a job at 2-3 times your earnings because they believed you could do the job that you wouldn't take it? Of course you would. You would because, like everyone else, you're trying to make your way through this world.

I just don't get going out your way to slam a guy who is no longer a coach at WVU and has a bad rep from our fans because Dana made a mistake with him. Dana screwed that up. Not DeFo. DeFo is now gone. So why do we want to follow him around and taunt him? I don't get it.

Again .... he's currently at Kansas. It's not like ineptitude broke out when he arrived. Ineptitude is what Kansas football has been about for years. So why slam DeFo now for KU's long running ineptitude?

Here is the special teams success he inherited from last year.

Here’s what DeForest will have to improve: KU ranked 10th in punt return (2.0 yards per return), 10th in punting (34.6 net average), 10th in field-goal makes (6) and percentage (.545) and 10th in extra-point makes (21) and percentage (.913). The Jayhawks were eighth in kickoff return (20.3 yards per return) and second in kickoff coverage. But despite that standing, the Jayhawks still struggled in the one category they ranked closer to the top than the bottom, finishing eighth in touchbacks, with just 20.
