Jeff Boals Don't Need No Stinkin' Dog...

Sounds like they needed a MBA from WVU if they wanted to get away from the chump change!
“Not so fast” on the Mops for Props.

Chapman Printing WAS paying Marshall players $25 per hour and they did show up for it (well most of them). The problem was that prop players while serving their time were not allowed to have any contact with the athletic department while they paid their way through their first year of college.

The NCAA was investigating Marshal for a self reported issue of players getting copies of test answers from members of the athletic department. The investigators walked by an assistant football coaches office and saw the player’s pay checks and started asking questions. The one who took it “for the team” was the owner of Chapman Printing. Served 5 years from doing business with Marshall.

A few excerpts from the link posed below.

"The NCAA busted Marshall in 2001 for a series of rule violations, including academic fraud and a scheme where players were paid up to four times the prevailing wage for jobs with a firm owned by mega wealthy and ultra-personable Marshall booster Marshall Reynolds.

The school was put on NCAA probation for four years and lost five scholarships a year for three years. The school also was required to have no association with Reynolds for five years. (The very instant the five years was up, the school welcomed its big time benefactor back with open arms.)"

"Former players Sam Goines and Charlie Tynes swore they were paid $25 an hour to work for Reynolds' Chapman Printing Co., well above the going rate for menial labor.

Both players testified Pruett told them that if they wanted to play, they had to sign statements saying they were paid $12.50 an hour, not $25."

"Frankly, it was always hard to believe when Marshall got caught cheating that Pruett didn't know what was taking place under his nose.

The questionable payments to players started under Coach Jim Donnan and continued under Pruett, with players even picking up their checks at the football office."

Are you kidding? $25 an hour as opposed to selling a $2 epi pen for $500 because of all the knowledge acquired at the WVU Business School, well kind of acquired there....you can have the mop for prop chump change, give me the phony MBA any day of the week!

Heather did receive a EMBA, but after this came to light, the school took it back and fired everyone involved. She does not hold an MBA from WVU. Only a crooked father that thought he has the power to enrich he and his family.

To hell with all of it....let's just play and we'll just let the scoreboard settle the debate!

Well then, why drag out the MBA scandal (which has nothing to do with athletics) into this?
...as a response to mop for props which happened 20 years ago! Glad to see you're one of the reasonable one's that sees the benefit of the game in Charleston!

Well the football team getting into trouble (mops for props) and the Houston player breaking his leg due to the stupid band has nothing to do with the two schools not playing basketball either.

Play it during Christmas break in Charleston. Problem is both schools need the money. I’m sure Marshall would love a sold out Henderson Center for a non- conference game as would WVU in Morgantown. Issue is: neither team makes any money with out a sponsor footing the bill. Charleston wants too much money for rent, even though they would rake in tax dollars for food, hotels, etc. They won’t budge in order to help make it happen. WVU doesn’t play any games in Charleston due to the expense. WVU has hotel costs unlike Marshall. But other than the WVU series and a couple of games at the Civic Center vs Morris Harvey and VMI once, Marshall can’t afford it either.

I remember the games with Morris Harvey in the old Charleston Civic Center, dogfights! What about a Christmas Tournament over the holidays in Charleston?

With this logic Turds use...obviously means North Carolina is afraid to play WVU since they have never beaten WVU.
