I'm beginning to wonder if my team knows the rules to the game of football...

Combination of rain and a certain carelessness with the ball, IMHO!
I didn't watch the Herd game, but I'm guessing the field was always dry and no rain was falling when MTS had the ball. I will never understand all the if's, but's, shoulda's and coulda's that Marshall fans come up with. Just face the facts, like WVU Marshall isn't very good this year.

Fact: WVU and MU both stink!
Fact: A wet ball is more likely to be fumbled as opposed to a dry one!
Fact: WVU grads struggle with reading comprehension.

I understand the poor weather conditions can be difficult but I hate these damn interference calls. I wonder if our defense knows you can't tackle the receiver until the offense touches the ball....

I fully understood your comment about carelessness with the football. I have seen the same thing with Doege with the way he carries the ball when DL's are closing in on him and with some of his ill advised passes that resulted in INT's.

Doege has 2 fumbles this year and neither was his fault. If you let a blind side rusher run at a qb and he is hit trying to throw the ball you are gonna get fumbles. Doege has plenty of issues but the fumbles are on his OTs. Someone should at least yell look out for him.

We are virtually helpless on defense! I'm 65, 5'11 and slower than smoke off shit but our bunch would turn me into All American!

...seems the least they could do if they're not going to bother to block any human!

Tony, I've had both knees replaced and I feel the same way. This team could use me..LOL

I watched the last 6-7 minutes of the 4th quarter Marshall at Middle Tennessee State game and I don’t know how they can afford to field a team. I know it rained, but how many actually showed up?

Our attendance is down , as is all of college football but the rest of C-USA attendance is woeful at best.

Well, like it or not, at some point in the near future, I would anticipate Marshall and many other G5 programs to be competing in a lower division. Have to wait and see what occurs with P5 conferences, and potential further expansions, but the real key will be what they determine to do with playoff expansion. If they go to 12, and open up a guaranteed spot for the best G5 conferences, and enable others the chance to play themselves into a spot, then nothing will really change, other than the Big Boys positioning themselves for more TV revenue.

Personally, most G5 programs don't have a shot at a national title. Maybe once every five/six years, a G5 team shows they could maybe have a chance at winning one, maybe even two playoff games, but that is even questionable. Best scenario for teams like the Herd, are to drop down a division, hope like hell there's a little money available, play against conference teams within close proximity to one another, and try to win a championship, even if it is at a lower level that only a couple hundred thousand people care about. I still think that beats having no chance at all. Hell, look at the P5 teams. There's what, maybe 64 or 66, and 85% to 90% of them really don't have much of a shot at winning a national title. But, for the most part, they're bigger schools with name recognition, and a fanbase that at times, can fill up stadiums.

do you remember Jerry Kramer of the Packers?...he wrote a book where against alex karras and the lions they had the "look out bart block"...karras would blow past one of the packers O line and they would yell "look out bart".....starr for you young whippersnappers

What I remember is that the Cowboys got screwed in the Ice Bowl when the Packers' O-Line clearly jumped the snap, but the zebras' whistles were frozen, which allowed the Cheese Heads to score the winning touchdown. Actually, I don't remember this at all, as I was too young, but have seen the highlight more times than you have hairs on your head. However, the Pokes exacted revenge against the Pack on multiple occasions during the 1990s when Dallas repeatedly thumped Brett Favre & Company in the Playoffs.

Kramer said in his book that after that game they went gambling on a riverboat and he didn't thaw out for two days Chuck Howley was a family aquaintance so we were always cowboy fans

I've been a Cowboys' fan since I was a little kid because of Roger Staubach and the Pokes being on TV so often during the 1970s. I have a cousin who is a Vice President of a Fortune 500 company, and negotiates contracts with professional sports teams and entertainers. Knowing that I was a big Cowboys' fan, he asked me to join him in Dallas in 2016, to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Cowboys' new headquarters in Frisco, Texas, a Dallas suburb. It was a lot of fun.

when I moved here in 1981 all I saw were redksins flags and I knew immediately that I was in enemy territory.....and yes I said "redskins"......restaurants here put a score prediction on their sign every Saturday.....it's funny really...most folks here are redskin and national fans rather than orioles and ravens

I thought boyd dowler but were both wrong....I'll try to find out
Not sure what year you old timers are referring to, but I used to be a Packers fan from 4 years old in '64 up until mid-70s. You might be referring to 'The Big Oaf', Ron Kramer.

Here's a listing of all Packers that have worn #88.

HB: Rip Collins (1951).

DE: George Hays (1953).

DB: Gene White (1954).

TE: Ron Kramer (1957, 1959-64), Bill Anderson (1965-66), Dick Capp (1967), Ron Jones (1969), Len Garrett (1971-73), Bert Askon (1975-77), Darryl Ingram (1992-93), Keith Jackson (1995-96), Reggie Johnson (1997) Lamont Hall (1999), Bubba Franks (2000-07) and Jermichael Finley (2008-13).

WR: Ron Cassidy (1979-81, 1983-84), Preston Dennard (1985), Phil McConkey (1986), Albert Belle (1988), Aubrey Matthews (1988-89), Charles Wilson (1990-91), Terry Mickens (1994), Roell Preston (1997-98), Jahine Arnold (1999) and Ty Montgomery (2015-18).

Ty Montgomery looked goofy wearing #88 when the Packers moved him from WR to RB a few years ago. If I'm not mistaken, Alan Page of the Purple People Eaters wore #88, as did Lynn Swann, who I despised as a little kid for obvious reasons.

Urban is a scumbag now just as he was in Columbus. Time for him to fake more heart problems.
