If Rich Rodriguez were hired as the head coach of West Virginia University (WVU) tomorrow, it's likely he would bring several of his trusted assistants from Jacksonville State, including Rod Smith, his offensive coordinator. Smith has a strong track record working with Rodriguez's fast-paced, spread offense and would be a key hire. Pat Kirland, who has experience coaching in Rodriguez’s system, could also follow, potentially contributing in an offensive role or helping with recruiting. Bradon Napelon, another member of the Jacksonville State coaching staff, may also make the jump to WVU, given his familiarity with Rodriguez’s approach.

Rodriguez might also consider retaining certain coaches from the current WVU staff, especially those who align with his philosophy or have strong ties to the players. Matt Moore, the offensive line coach, could be a candidate for retention, particularly if his approach meshes well with Rodriguez’s system. As for the defensive coordinator role, Rodriguez might look to Jahmile Addae, who previously coached at WVU and is now the defensive backs coach for the Bills. While hiring Addae might raise more than a few concerns due to past coaching changes, it could be a bold move that strengthens the defense.

As for Rick Trickett, Rodriguez’s former offensive line coach, it's highly unlikely that he would be brought out of retirement at 76 years old. However, Trickett's long history in college football could make this a consideration, albeit a slim one. Overall, Rodriguez’s staff would likely be a mix of familiar faces from Jacksonville State and some holdovers from the current WVU staff, depending on team needs and available talent.

I would like to find a spot for both Scott and Moore from the current staff. Moore has done a good job in developing his OL more than any other position coach on on the current staff. Scott appears to get along well with all of the players.

Hell I am only speculating but what else do fans do.
