NTSU....our absurdly young/bad secondary is probably not going to improve much this season but frankly we begin playing teams that not be able to exploit them to the degree they have been in the last three weeks. MTSU and WKU capable of beating us but those games at least in Huntington. But if NTSU can beat us, no hope for a .500 season, IMHO!

Look on the bright side, no conference losses at this point, you can win the conference, and the competition level is about to take a nose dive.

What and where is NTSU? A satellite campus of DeVry University?

You guys need to get back in the MAC. At least people know what and where the schools are in that league.

Those pesky MAC schools have proven to be a bit too tough for the Herd lately. They'd best stay in CUSA where they can keep racking up 10 win seasons in the weakest conference in the land.

I've followed college football for decades and I can say with all honesty that I had never heard of NTSU until Marshall started playing them. As for the Herd hosting games against MTSU and WKU..........the home crowd didn't make much difference when Akron visited the Groan.

That's the Alma Mater of this guy

The next 3 teams on your schedule are awful

Yes, and the Kool aid drinkers will suddenly be out in full force on HN. I'll most likely be banned from the main board for calling them out. The super fans do not like me much

HAHA, I did notice on that one thread you called them out for saying they'll be back on the band wagon after the next few games, predicting to go 9-3. Kudos.

I give Marshall and some of their more delusional fans plenty of Hell here on the Woodshed, mostly all in fun. When I visit their board I try to be respectful with my comments but sometimes I can't believe some of the things I read there. Things like how they see themselves as the Notre Dame of the G5, how valuable of a commodity they could be to any conference looking to expand, how they think they are too good for the MAC even though they lose to MAC teams regularly, and especially when they think they are the "flagship" of the state. You call them the Kool Aid drinkers, maybe that's a fitting description for some of them, but most of the Marshall fans and alumni that are in my circle are a little more reasonable and also pull for WVU. Likewise there are plenty of us WVU die-hards that also pull for the Herd.....

Keep looking you'll find a lot more than just that

Tread lightly on their board........During the time the "Coal Bowl" was still being played I posted on HN that a WVU - Marshall series would never mean as much to WVU fans as the Backyard Brawl. That resulted in me being banned from posting there for years.

I was banned over there presumably for something I wrote here ... because I had never posted there and started to post something and learned I was banned. LOL

You need to get out more...saw the Mean Green play UK for years in Lexington!

I google searched North Texas State ( why do I have to google search most of Marshall's opponents? ), and found that their "Mean Green" nickname was adopted because Mean Joe Greene of Steeler fame played his college ball there. Nice to know that Marshall plays a team that had a player capable of making the NFL decades ago......

I've been banned twice before. I was universally hated during the Snyder years. I called his lack of success the day he was hired in 05, and was crucified for it.

You fvcked up the quote feature. But no I'm not a WVU fan, I am a realist who doesn't buy into bullshit and calls it when I see it. It's a hard thing to do if you're in the minority like I am on the HN board, but a few others see it for what it is also

I like to think I'm a realist as well, that's why I'm not confident at all about Saturday night. Our defense is not very stout.

How did you like your trip? We spent both nights at the Casino and I didn't lose any money minus what I ate, so I am calling it a win. The game was another story...I was really hoping you guys would pull it out. All the yinzers around us were very very quiet until their TD throw in the last minute.

I enjoyed Pittsburg, first time I've ever been there. Ate at Foundrys and had a great burger. Had a lot of good conversations at the bar there and in the stands with some good people. Honestly I had no one act up around me at all and I thought the people were cordial. Heinz field was awesome. Went to the mall the next day and took my daughter to the American Girl Store (she deserved it after dragging her to a game all weekend)

I had the one drunk behind me who just ran his mouth all night about hillbillies and incest and my buddies told me when I got there at halftime that there was a loudmouth and they were ready to kill him. Other than that we had a great time. I came back to Morgantown Saturday for our game and then hauled ass back up there so I missed tailgaiting but I thought the same as you. Yhe people were cordial. Had fun at the casino mostly hanging out at the bar. I cant drink anymore so that probably helped with the discussions at the bar.

Friend of mine is the Compliance Director at Kansas, I'm making it to the WVU-Kansas game. He's an MU grad, his daughter goes to WVU.
Where do you recommend to eat and hotel to book?

The best hotels in town are yhe Hotel Morgan and the Waterfront but both of those will be hard to book now. Bother are bs prices on game weekends. There is a new Holiday Inn on Pineview Dr. It is nice enough for a Holidat Inn and there is an Atrias Resturaunt in the building that has good food. If you like Italian go to Oliverios which is at the Wharf near the Waterfront. If you would rather be more chill the Mountain State brewery is next to Oliverios and it has local beer and wood fired pizza. There is a thread on the Eats Board by Mog with a list of almost every place in town. Check out that thread. Good luck getting a room. May be easier since it is Kansas.

Puglioni's kills Oliverios. Very tiny place though so limited seating.
That is one opinion but not mine. I like their bread but their red sauce literally disgusts me. FWIW they may have some good food but I have been there twice and had spaghetti both times and I gave it a 2nd chance because I thought the first was a fluke. Oliverios has a lot better menu though and there are a handful of things I have had there that I loved.

Head Coach Bill Legg.....kind of has a ring to it[sick]

I was banned there last year....some herd fan said that after Dana low-fived Trevon Boykin that he didn't play worth a damn. That particular Saturday the marshal kicker had gagged on several attempts...... I simply said.."well if that's true he must have bear hugged your kicker".......poof....I'm gone

I've had dinner at the Oliverio's in Bridgeport a number of times, but never the one in Morgantown.

Down this way there is Muriale's in Fairmont and Minards in Clarksburg also. Muriale's and Oliverio's are pretty close as far as I'm concerned but I give the not to Oliverio's. I don't recall ever having Puglioni's but I can't imagine getting much better than Oliverio's.

you cannot be a realist AND a marshal fan....those are polar opposites:alien:

No, not true! But I agree with Marine's thoughts that you can't fix something until you recognize it's broken and that many of our fans have difficulty with this concept!

Muriale's is good food but overpriced a bit IMHO, but I still go there occasionally since it's only a few miles from my home. At one time their steak hoagies were to die for but they switched from using real steak and started using that steak-um type of meat which just isn't as good.

Most people love Minards but I don't care for their spaghetti sauce. Their lasagna is good though.

Then there was my favorite, Phillips Pasta Cusina which is no longer in business. Their red sauce was the best of the three and they sometimes had a buffet that was an unbelievable bargain. I think bad location is what killed them, I keep hoping they will reopen soon.

I haven't tried Puglioni's yet, maybe sometime this winter I will.
