How did you become a WVU fan?

I grew up in Wheeling and my parents indoctrinated the love for WVU when I was a kid. My extended family are Catholics and are Notre Dame fans, but I quickly earned a hatred for the Fight Irish.

I went to WVU 2001-2005 and it was 4 years I will treasure. From 3-8 in football to a Sugar Bowl win over Georgia and an 8 win basketball team to an Elite 8 - what a journey!

My wife (also from Wheeling) and our family now live in Maryland, but if you go anywhere near us or our home you’ll know we are WVU fans! Our kids are huge Mountaineer fans already (they’re 12 and 9).

I’m curious to hear how the rest of you became Mountaineers.
