I'm reading where the UM AD is offering him an extension, one with a much reduced base salary (currently making $8MM), along with a greatly reduced buyout clause. This one would include incentives similar to other coaching contracts - winning league titles, going to playoffs, etc. I'm hoping he won't like this, and will opt out for an NFL team, as several will be looking to fill a HC position within the next month or two.

God only knows who they would hire to replace him if they're required to do so. Early money seems to be on the Iowa State coach, but not sure if he would have any interest, but as they say, money talks, and bullshit walks. I'm sure there's other big names out there, but hopefully the top qualifier isn't having to be the so-called 'Michigan Man'.

This is a good strategy by Michigan, in my opinion. Harbaugh hasn't done anything in Ann Arbor to warrant being paid $8 million/season, so if he rejects the lower offer, then let him walk. I'm not sure that his NFL stock is very high at this point, but some owners might give him a shot because he advanced to the Super Bowl once. I think that he'll stay at Michigan.

I think he'll probably stay as well, so I might as well go root for Kansas. At least with them, you expect to lose every game. However, don't underestimate the Detroit Lions when it comes to selecting football coaches.

looks like this year michigan will be just another losing record team on ahia state's glowing schedule

Why don't you talk to Shane Lyons, and see if you can schedule another home/home series with them. I was present for the 34-17 beatdown in 1998, and watched the 1987 game (from Pope Air Force Base) when Major Harris got spanked. Surely WVU could handle the Buckeyes, based on everything I read on this forum.

I was in attendance with my student season ticket when Minor Harris fumbled away any chance to beat a bad Ohio State team in 1987. The Buckeyes routed the Old Fold & Blew by the score of 24-3, IIRC, even though their season was so bad that Earle Bruce was canned just before the Michigan game. And, of course, I made my one and only trip to Morganhole Field at MBA Pushover Stadium on 9/5/98, when Ohio State spanked an overrated No. 11 WVU team that Don Nehlen admittedly wished had not started the season with a game vs. the No. 1 Buckeyes. Yes, SlowHead: Your souls actually were taken on that day.

To be fair, it was Major’s second game and the first was vs Ohio U. The team played much better mid season and would of at least give OSU a better game then. But you can’t pick and choose the past.

Note to all, a better game not win, kick their butts, etc.

I wouldn’t be upset to see WVU schedule both Michigan or Ohio State after the Penn State and Pitt series run their course. But who knows what college football will look like after the shake up that may occur at the new TV deals come up.

The worst time to have played Ohio State in 1987 would have been the Saturday following Earle Bruce's firing. Earle sobbed on his front porch as the Best Damn Band in the Land serenaded him following his termination, then the Buckeyes played over their heads to beat a favored Michigan team in Ann Arbor. I suffered through two of Ohio State's worst football seasons ever in 1987-88. Indiana beat Ohio State twice, but hasn't beaten the Buckeyes since.

Ill call him today...he has me on speed dial

I always liked old earl.....why did they fire him

Earle had the unfortunate timing of replacing a legend, Woody Hayes. After his first season, Earle's teams would typically go 9-3 or so, and when his team went 5-4-1 before the Michigan game in 1987, he was toast.

win at all costs
Do you have any doubt that tHuggs feels the same way? Before you answer, remember that his Cincinnati program cheated its proverbial a$$ off on his watch. He'd even give up being a drunk to be able to brag about bringing a national title to West Virginia, the state in which he hasn't lived for most of his life.

he hasn't at WVU.....I'd be careful when you talk about cheating

Of course not. Neither was Catlett, even though Jonathan Hargett received a big bag of cash as an "amateur" athlete. Morganhole is "cover-up city." Ryan Day and Chris Holtmann haven't been placed on NCAA Probation. Neither was Urban Meyer or Thad Matta. Your CURRENT basketball coach has had a program placed on NCAA probation, however, so YOU need to be careful, Pops.

tattoo u......maurice clarett

That was three coaches ago, Slow Head. Read up about your CURRENT basketball coach:

"Cincinnati lost three men's basketball scholarships and was put on two years probation by the NCAA Thursday for wide-ranging violations in coach Bob Huggins' program."

Yeah, tHuggs became an honest guy--probably sobered up, too--as soon as he arrived in Morganhole. When you hear any of your friends in the Old Fold & Blew media ask tHuggs a tough question, then let me know. He can do whatever he wants up there, and nobody with a microphone, pen or keyboard will ever say a word about it.

it still happened...just like cincy was many years ago

You must have one heck of a Huggy-Hard on.
Hey, I think the guy is clever...like a fox. He's easy to despise, if you aren't a WVU fan. He runs a defensive style that emphasizes beating the Hell out of the opponent, but then throws a tantrum about the zebras after every loss, and even some of the wins. He has y'all believing that the refs are out to get poor ol' WVU. Check out the number free throw attempts in the last two games, and tell me that any WVU coach, fan, or media fan boy should be crying about officiating. He's the consummate bully, and a fraud to boot. But other than that, he's a great guy (when sober), I'm sure.

because officials treat WV like they are still Press Virginia regarding fouls. If you can't see that then you are not paying attention

Don't care. Tressel won a national title in 2002-03, which wasn't vacated. Clarett played for only one college season because of his transgressions, and his team wasn't as good for the next couple of seasons because of his departure. Big deal. Tattoos? Who cares? Petty stuff, especially when the Sandusky news broke.

You just proved my point better than I could have made it myself. YOU, AS A tHUGGS MINION, ARE CRYING ABOUT THE REFEREES, BASED UPON THE IDIOTIC MYTH SPREAD BY tHUGGS THAT THE OFFICIALS TARGET WVU. Free throws shot by each school during Sunday's game AT Georgetown:

Old Fold & Blew: 33

Georgetown: 15

Just imagine if the zebras hadn't been "out to get" WVU: tHuggs' team may have shot three times as many free throws as the home team, instead of just twice as many! Good gawd, you're stupid.
