Kole Taylor left Baton Rouge more known for someone throwing his shoe than for his play on the gridiron.

Now more than 1,000 miles away, the Central High School graduate is taking control of his story.

Taylor transferred from LSU to West Virginia in December 2022 in search of a bigger role on an offense. His 6-foot-7, 250-pound frame helps pave paths in the Mountaineers’ run-first offense, he can pick up blitzers in pass protection, and he’s one of the leading receivers for the Big 12’s biggest surprise of the season.

“It was a great choice and a big move for me,” Taylor said. “It was something that my football career needed. The timing was right, the place was right, and it all fell into place.”
