My problem with Stewart came after he tried to renege on the deal he agreed to, via backdoor means with the Pittsburgh press. For a man who would often claim his word was his bond, he certainly proved otherwise. I lost all respect I had for him over that incident. Before that I thought he got a raw deal.
There's an old saying that "A card laid is a card played." Stew thought he could pull a joker from a Pittsburgh deck.
If he hadn't died before it all sank in, he would likely be more hated than Rich for what he tried to do to the university.
