he'll continue to vote democrat...

@gentrywgevers

Jimmy Carter sold the Panama Canal to Panama for 1 dollar.

He started the department of energy and department of education, two wildly bloated and corrupt government agencies.

He supported Shah of Iran which ushered in an Islamic revolution in Iran.

He was horrible at combating inflation and stagflation.

He was a horrible president.

It’s almost impressive Joe Biden was worse.

This isn't true,... the revolution was always going to happen, but his support of the Shah lead to the Iranian hostage crisis...

An absolutely extraodinary human being and you want to trash him, real nice. I wish we had more people like him, who actually cares about people.

Great person. Honestly, don't know if there was anything negative about him as a person (maybe there was, and I don't recall). Not a great president, but his circumstances were/are a lot different than most presidents.

Carter pardoned Vietnam draft dodgers.

Yes, Jimmy Carter pardoned Vietnam War draft dodgers on January 21, 1977:

When Carter issued Proclamation 4483, also known as the Granting Pardon for Violations of the Selective Service Act, on the first full day of his presidency.

Yeah. He should have just said they all had bone spurs instead of using a pardon. :joy: :joy: :joy: :joy:

I guess you'll be ok with the January 6th people being pardoned.

I don't think Biden should have pardoned his son, just like I don't think Trump should pardon his kids/friends when he gets in office. I'm aware that Biden changed death sentences to life in jail, not aware that he set them free, not like they're getting out, not to mention it costs more taxpayer money to execute then give them a life sentence, so it saves the country some money.

I really feel sorry for you. I hope you can sleep at night. I admitted in my first post that he was unfortunately to honest to be a good president but he was a great human being. He has done so much for humanity since he left office and all you want to do is shit all over the guy. I can't believe that you can't take a minute to have respect for him but obviously I'm not going change you and you're not going to change me so I guess we'll agree to disagree.

With Cater, you have to separate the man from the office he held... While he wasn't the greatest president we ever had, he was a great humanitarian and by all counts was a decent human being.

On the other hand, Biben is someone who spent years denying the existence of his own granddaughter...

That is a complete myth and I am always amazed by the number of people who repeat it. It is not even logical.

100 years old.
Ways respected his work with Habitat. Handling if the hostage crisis and energy crisis....horrific.
Not much good to say about the president.

But a good man....and that's the only thing that matters.

It's silly at best. Utah in 2010 used a firing squad. That's even cheaper than a quality rope. A judge just cleared the way to bring it back last year too. Other States need to do the same as well as speeding up the appeals process. Feeding, Housing, and Corrections Officers cost add up quickly.

The staate pays for the defense of these guys. I have a good friend who just recently retired from the defense of capital criminals. Few are certified here in Va and it is expensive. I will say he was defending a particularly heinous individual and I asked him about it and he said," yeah, he's one guy that should visit ole sparky!'

Everyone should get a fair trial. Not everyone deserves the Death Penalty. However there are some that definitely do and it shouldn't take 25 years to get it done.

I'm not sure where I'm spreading misinformation. I stated an opinion that I don't think Biden should have pardoned his son. Also stated an opinion that I don't think Trump should either. I didn't state that he did or was going too, just simply saying that I don't think he should, so no misinformation there. I think Biden opened Pandora's box by pardoning his son and now the left has no business complaining if Trump does as well. I won't be happy about it but no argument against it now. I'm not a believer in "do as I say, not as I do". As far as the expense of executions, I never believed it as well but as I read more about it seems that I was wrong. I actually fact checked myself before I wrote that last night just to be sure. So again, I'm not sure where I'm offering misinformation. Personally, I'm not against the death penalty. I don't think it is a deterrent at all, unfortunately people are going to do what they do. I do worry about executing people who may be not guilty. I know with the advances in DNA they've actually proven that some people have been cleared after being executed. That being said it allows the possibility of the Ted Bundys of the world to live and potentially escape, although, even on death row he could potentially escape since it takes about 15-20 years to actually execute someone. There are valid arguments on both sides. I am very socially liberal but death penalty is one aspect where I'm still not sure where I stand. I listed the sources I checked last night before I posted my comment.

Serial killers, people who walk into a school and shoot children, rape children, or commit terrorism that cause mass casualties should be put to death ASAP. However there are other cases that your stance would be valid. No gray area in the things I listed though.

I'm all for the death penalty and believe it should be brutal. Those criminals you posted should get it with in a month of trial. People who kill while in prison should be shot unless proven self defense. Murder doing robbery should die .
We need to make people scared to commit crimes it's the only way to stop it .

I’ve got news for you. The state is defending most defendants charged with murder.

The stats cited are no different than the crime stats Muir cited at the debate that used fake data.
