Football Announces Director of Creative Design

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (June 10, 2019) – West Virginia University football has announced the hiring of Jordan Herald as the Mountaineers’ director of creative design.

“We are thrilled to have Jordan join us as we continue to build the brand of West Virginia Football”, Coleman Barnes, associate director of athletics/football external affairs said. “He brings a tremendous amount of graphic design experience from multiple college football programs and will be a great asset to the football program, giving us more opportunities to tell the great stories about West Virginia football.”

At West Virginia, Herald will oversee the area of graphic design for the promotion of the football program, including a heavy emphasis on recruiting. He will produce content and materials that highlight and communicate information about the program on a variety of platforms, including print, web, social media and internal team distribution.

Herald will work with the director of player personnel and the on-campus recruiting coordinator to produce creative and innovative content for prospective student-athletes. Herald will create graphics, develop conceptual ideas/designs and various visual materials for promotional/marketing purposes such as brochures, posters, flyers, web pages and media.

He will assist with the media, marketing and motivational strategy for the football program. He also will assist in determining creative direction for projects, social media, and promotional material. With this, Herald will coordinate the design of various items for the promotion of the football program, including recruiting correspondence, signage, logos, brochures, and flyers.

Herald comes to West Virginia after serving as the graphic design/social media assistant at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He assisted in creating daily content/graphics for football social platforms to help promote the University’s brand. He created graphics, shot photographs, and created social media posts to use for recruiting and social media for the football team. Herald also assisted with motion content for the Miami Athletics’ social media accounts as well as creating graphics when needed.

Herald also served as a summer intern at Pitt in 2018 and at Indiana in 2017. At Pitt, he assisted with creating recruitment graphics, social media graphics and graphics highlighting the history of the program. While at Indiana, Herald worked as a part of the Cuban Center to create print, social, and motion material for all sports. He was put in charge large scale projects such as redesigning the football team room walls, creating a social package for all sports on social media, billboards that went across the state, and creating content for media guides.

The Steubenville, Ohio native earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and health from Miami University in 2019, where he pursued studies in sport management and interactive media studies.
 
As long as they don't try to change the flying WV then fans are probably good with this.
