My Fiver on WVU's victory over UC at Fifth Third Arena on Sunday...

1. Javon Small was the best player on the floor and wasn't close. I'll echo what @bobhertzel'ssweatpants said in an earlier thread, and I'm shocked that UC and Wes Miller did not have a better defensive plan against Small. He hit for 19 points, 9 assists, and in all honesty, he could've had far more if a few bunnies would've fallen.

2. KJ Tenner - what is going on here? Score was 11-11, and the ball reversed to a wide open Tenner outside the arc at the top of the key. No defender within 6 feet of him. He didn't even look at the basket. That's not an exaggeration - he literally did not look at the basket to get a shot up. He quickly looked to his left to find a man to pass the ball to. It's odd - here's a kid who was Mr. Basketball in Tennessee, filled it up at 20+ ppg, and doesn't even look to put up shots at this level. I know he's a freshman, but our rotation is down to 7 or 8 guys nightly. It's all hands on deck. If you are a guard, put the damn ball up.

3. Joseph Yesufu needs to keep this going. I know he's not going to be point-a-minute 100% from the field like he was Sunday with 16 points in 15 minutes, going 6-6, 4-4 from "3". But, he can score and he's a fifth year guy who has played many games at this level. If we can get teams to scout him as a threat, then when we put him out there with Small, Powell and Hansberry, then all of the sudden you have to pick your poison.

4. Thought UC was listless and sloppy...but i'll take it. Not our problem. Hard to believe that this is the same team who has won at Georgia Tech by 23, beat Xavier and Dayton, and also knocked off mighty Arizona State. Some of their turnovers were just awful - threw the ball right to our guys. But, I'll take all of the charity I can get at this point.

5. 14-7, 5-5 heading to the dance floor at Fort Worth. The magic number is "18" for the Dance invite and we're inching towards that goal. TeamRankings.com is projecting a 19-12 finish with 10-10 in conference. I'll take it. We have a relatively favorable February, but again, we're a coin flip nowadays. Ultimately, a split with TCU should be sufficient, but I really want to sweep these guys. I can't stand their floor...I hate it so much, and Jamie Dixon has always bothered me. They are not a very good team and if we go take care of business Wednesday night, we're looking good.
