MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (October 1, 2015) – The West Virginia University baseball team continues fall competition vs. Waynesburg on Friday, October 2, at 5 p.m., before hosting the annual Alumni Game on Saturday at 10 a.m.
Both games will be held at the new Monongalia County Ballpark, and admission is free for all fans. The alumni game, originally scheduled for 9 a.m., will now begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday and last six innings.

“This is going to be a fun weekend, with the alumni in town,” WVU coach Randy Mazey said. “Without those guys setting the foundation for WVU baseball, we wouldn’t be where we are right now. It will be really nice to see them all come back and get involved with the program. It’s a lot of fun to hear their stories and interact with their old buddies they haven’t seen in a long time. It’s just a great weekend and a great time for everyone involved.”
More than 30 alumni are expected to attend the weekend festivities, which begin with Friday’s game vs. Waynesburg. The highlight of the weekend will be seeing the new Monongalia County Ballpark, which their success as Mountaineers helped build.
The alumni will take batting practice on the field for the first time Saturday morning, and get a tour of the new facility before taking on the current team. After the alumni game, the alumni will gather in the stadium suites to cheer on the WVU football team vs. Oklahoma.
“They’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time, in the history of WVU baseball,” Mazey said. “As alums, they can be just as proud of the new stadium as we are, the current team. It’s going to be fun watching the gleam in their eye when they walk in for the first time. They’re going to tour the lockerroom, tour the facilities, I’m sure it’s going to be a proud moment for them as well.”
WVU’s fall ball slate concludes against in-state foe Marshall, on Friday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. and on Saturday, Oct. 17 at noon.
