Eliminate conference affiliation bowl tie-ins. If you must, you can keep them for the New Year 6 bowls. BIG/PAC12 to Rose Bowl, ACC to Orange Bowl, SEC/Big 12 to Sugar Bowl, etc.

But for every other bowl, end the conference affiliation tie-ins. Go regional. This would significantly help with ticket sales and exciting bowl matchups.

For example with WVU. Here are some bowls that WVU could play in with this format.

Liberty Bowl in Memphis
Belk Bowl in Charlotte
Music City Bowl in Nashville
Camping World Bowl in Orlando
Military Bowl in Annapolis, Maryland
TaxSlayer Bowl in Jacksonville
Outback Bowl in Tampa

Several other bowls in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, etc, smaller bowls due to conference affiliation tie in but they don't have to be smaller bowls if you eliminate the conference affiliation factor

Greatest bowl game expierence I have been apart of is the Rose Bowl.
To play USC in a Rose Bowl more importantly is possibly the best matchup you can hope for.
The Sugar Bowl is a great expierence as well. Very underrated.

A lot of these smaller bowls have been around for a long time and do not receive their due credit. Liberty is one and the Holiday is another. Some of these other bowls are in great cities that people should visit once in their life like the Alamo Bowl and the Music City Bowl.

Forcing a school to play Bowl within their region does not work. How about Nebraska?
Why is Florida apart of West Virgina's region and not New York.
The Pinstripe Bowl is a lot closer to Morgantown than the Liberty Bowl in Memphis.

The Pinstripe Bowl is the one where Geno and the boys laid down in the snow and refused to play. Syracuse choose to man up and whipped the Mountaineers handily...............sending them whining all the way back to Mo'Town. I was there on that cold snowy day but I got a couple of hot toddies and was good to go. This yeer's team is rough and ready and will bring home the Texas style brisket. Yes, I will be there sitting on the 50..........providing the ticket costs less than $25. Otherwise, it's the big screen HDTV with PIP and Chinese delivery. Warez

Pinstripe Bowl is a shitty bowl, should not even be a bowl. Move it somewhere south. They just created the bowl a few years ago so it's not like it's a historic prestigious bowl. Why is Florida part of WV's region? Because there are many former WV residents living in Florida and a solid fan base down there. Did you watch that basketball tournament last week in Orlando? It was pretty much a home game for WVU. WVU brought a solid following to last year's Camping World Bowl too. Lot of WVU fans in North Carolina which is why Belk Bowl would be a great choice too.

WVU will never bring a big following out west unless WVU is playing in the National Championship. Regional games are better, no idea how anyone can argue against that. There's no logical reason why they shouldn't be regional. Bowl attendance has been on the decline for years. Having teams play across country in areas they lack a fanbase isn't going to generate attendance. Only a handful of teams can pull it off and they are your national brands. Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas, Alabama, etc.

Wasn't the Belk Bowl created a few years ago as well?
Some of the bowls you listed have been around less than twenty years.

Like I said all of the B1G and some of the ACC do not have a lot of Bowls in their region.

The state of West Virginia I guess should create a Bowl in their state and get a tie in with the Big XII.

They’re not interesting because they’re exhibitions. A lot of teams check out of the games completely. A lot of players refuse to play in them.

They are a straight up joke, an outdated relic of a system from a completely different time for football in this country. They should all be eliminated.

Since you're right about most of them being an exhibition, I say we should reject Cactus Bowl and play Pitt at Heinz Field. Don't care if they are bowl ineligible, there would be much more buzz and hype around the game and the stadium would be standing room only. So many ways to fix the bowl system.

Or fans could just stop acting like spoiled brats and generally BE EXCITED to watch their teams play again

So we should be excited when the athletic department spends more on the team participating in a bowl then the cash revenue it creates? The majority of teams in Bowls are happy too break even.

Only good part is we fans get to watch one more game. Be even better if it was within driving distance so more fans could attend the Bowl game.

Unlike you it's nothing to be excited about concerning The Heart of Dallas Bowl. Low tier Bowl having very little national interest. It's nothing more then a participation trophy kind of thing.

The old Bowl system was flawed but at least with fewer Bowls they had more exciting match-ups. Also the teams all had above average winning records. Not a bunch of 6-6 or 7-5 teams fighting it out to be the best of the below average teams.

Excited? No
Happy to watch The Mountaineers play one more game? Yes

Yes I cant wait to see our football team take on a random opponent and make money for Zaxby's to the detriment of our own AD. So glad for our seniors who will risk injury instead of preparing for the NFL draft so that our school can fight with Utah over some stupid trophy for the 37th best football team in 2017. Couldnt be more thankful that an excellent sport is whored out at season's end with countless ridiculous matchups in front of hundreds of fans instead of a major playoff.

I thought you were going to suggest nude cheerleaders.

Our fans use to like making any bowl. They were few and far between. Making a bowl use to mean something. BCS and Playoffs have ruined college football. Rod got lucky and had 3 years of top football and that is all the Generation Z and Generation Alpha know about. They think Mountaineer football was first played in 2005. They are truly spoiled brats.

Anyone who genuinely enjoys bowl games is a simpleton.

Maybe the entire plan is for West Virginia to open up a Zaxby's in Morgantown.
The gas stations in East Texas have better Chicken than Zaxby's though.

Bowl games are an early glimpse into the next season. Especially now that a lot of NFL bound seniors and juniors no longer play.
