Does WVU have the cash to buy Nelly out and

You want a new coach..you gonna have to make it rain... Neal Breezy..Pay that man his money!

Paying Make It Rain GIF by Travis

I don't doubt that they will do just that. Even you will be on board once things settle and a really good coach arrives in Morgantown.

If they buy this guy out, it will be because the boosters are willing to underwrite the buyout. If they aren't, then it's not going to happen. I won't believe until I see it. As far as a really good coach coming to Morgantown, I can't remember a time when we supposedly hired a crappy one. They will tout whomever they hire. It's not going to be a guy that is winning big at a Power 5 school. It will be someone from the group of 5 that is winning or some hotshot assistnant. This is what Wvu has always done, and we have succeeded at times and failed at times as well. We could also go the retread route, but that comes with red flags and baggage as well. It will be far from a sure thing whomever succeeds Brown.

They will pay his buyout which could possibly be renegotiated to a lesser amount because Brown wants out of here as much as we want him gone. He has already made 20 plus million dollars so he's not poor. We will pay him over time and payments and boosters will step up and we will hire a good coach that will fire up the fan base and we will sell out every home game next year and recuperate every penny. If Neil Brown is our coach next year we will be lucky to sell half the tickets to each home game. He has simply just lost the fan base because he is a slightly below average coach on this level.

--assuming they're going to go after a current HBC-- pay the buyout for the new guy as well???

Some how I think we should be prepared to bring in an assistant....or bring in a retread
The thing I don't completely understand about these contracts with coaches is, even professional players have performance clauses.
Why doesn't a failing coach have a reason have to be responsible for putting their employer in a no win situation if you fail? Where is the incentive to win if you are horrible, you still get millions. I get you want to try and secure a good coach that wins. But how many other businesses pay people to fail?

A fire Brown website has come about. Fans are uniting against the past 6 years of terrible football coaching. He ain't winning anyone back even if he wins out. It's over for Neal in Morgantown.

I think there should be some type of stipulation in a contract when it comes to the buyout. These things are ridiculous. Literally get fired and walk away with millions. I mean you have failed miserably and then get rewarded with retirement money.
And if it's a guarantee buyout of getting 100% of your remaining salary means they can get the money and still coach elsewhere without losing it.

what?..Brown has a business degree..why in the world would he want a lesser amount from someone wanting to can him?...his contract is set to pay the buyout over a three year period...aproxx $240,000 per month, plus he can get another job and not lose any of the payout..Neal has the upper hand

Why does everyone act like WVU can’t afford it? If that is the case, we need out of the B12 and need to be looking at the G5. Neal Brown is ranked 12th out of 16 teams of the B12 for highest salary and highest buyout. If that’s too much, then we can’t do better than Brown and we need to either accept our place at the bottom of the B12 annually or get out of the conference.

WVU is going to fire Brown and hire a better coach. You can be as mad about that as you want but nobody really cares. A better era of WVU football is on the horizon.

I don't have a problem with firing Brown. But there are no guarantees the next coach is better or wins.

every school who hires a coach thinks that..you can go from bad to worse with a bigger buyout.

I totally agree with you. There's no guarantee but just like I had faith in Brown, I will most likely have faith in the new coach unless it's a total head scratcher hire, but I don't see that. WVU is an attractive school. Plenty of good coaches will want to come here. There's always a gamble especially with the small school guys and coordinators but I believe we're going to find a good coach and it won't take much to improve from the last 6 years.
