--assuming they're going to go after a current HBC-- pay the buyout for the new guy as well???

Some how I think we should be prepared to bring in an assistant....or bring in a retread

They won't have to pay it in one year. It can be paid in installments over a number of years. I think they're going to get it done. Brown has lost a fan base and he's not going to get most of them back no matter what.

I think there should be some type of stipulation in a contract when it comes to the buyout. These things are ridiculous. Literally get fired and walk away with millions. I mean you have failed miserably and then get rewarded with retirement money.

To answer the OP's question, no, they do not. Brown will be here for several more years.

ECU can fire Houston due to the lower buyout (2.8 mill) and not being a P4 school...WVU is s P4 and the B12 members part of the nearly 3 billion settlement is 20 million per school to be paid next year to former and current athletes. The smaller conferences are not required to participate in paying the athletes..House v NCAA

“As it currently stands, I don’t know many schools that will be able to pay even remotely close to ($20 million) without eliminating some portion of what they currently spend,” said Iowa State athletic director Jamie Pollard

Neil will only be owed 7 mil after Jan 1st. He is a feckless wimpy failure and will most likely work out a deal to gtfo of morgantown ASAP. He doesnt want to be here, and is not wanted here so it's definitely mutual.

If they fire Brown, the nil will start getting a lot more money. Fans will step up and pay. I know a lot of people who won't pay into it already because of Brown. If they hire a real coach, wallets will open.

wrong yet again...
New Contract - 75% of his remaining 2024 salary ($1.00 million) plus 75% of the remaining three years ($4+4.3+4.4 for a total of $12.7). Seventy-five percent of that number ($13.7) comes out to a grand total of $10.275 million.

Result? With the new extension, WVU is paying out $645,000 more to Brown if they fire him at the end of this month than they would have under the old deal

I'm not talking about the end of this month I'm talking about Jan. 1st. WVUALLEN posted that info and I consider him a pretty reliable source.

But, that is only if Brown doesn't agree to a settlement sooner which is possible. He wants out of morgantown. He's dug his hole too deep here.

That's a cheaper buyout than a lot of coaches have right now and I think we're going to go for it. We will lose more in ticket sales keeping this clown. And on the flip side we will gain more and more donations from fans who are done with brown. Wallets will open once Neil Brown is gone. In fact I don't think it will even be close. Fans have had enough especially after Kansas state.

The better question to ask is: Does WVU have enough boosters and fans that are willing to contribute to buy this guy out? You think the university is going to pay this good luck with that one.

Something like this would have to happen to actually make a coaching change. The problem is that it's cheaper to complain than to actually write a check.

There is money for this and more will come in for this cause alone. They can't afford to keep Brown at this point. They will lose more in ticket sales than they will to get rid of him. He lost the fan base and it's not coming back after 6 years of slightly below average football. Wvu is much better than this and those who think otherwise have no clue.

I was totally on board when we hired Neal. But I do think it’s time to make a change.

Here is why we have the money. We have one of the highest game day prices in America. Ticket prices average 100 bucks.

So by that math, only filling up half of the stadium would be a $3 million loss each game. When they pack the stadium they are getting over $6 million dollars per game and that doesn't include concessions which are very expensive. So when we're only filling up half of the stadium for every home game, we are losing more than we are spending to pay his buyout in payments. This is a no-brainer. I'm not sure we will fill half of the stadium next season if he's still the coach. Losses could be catastrophic actually just by keeping him. On the flip side of that hiring a good coach will sell out every game and the games will be huge. Not to mention attendance will go up at the University as proven by the history of attendance and correlation with how good the football team is. Look it up. When the football team is good, attendance is up. Neil Brown is killing WVU Sports and the whole perception of the school because most of that perception in the world of Pop Culture comes through football popularity. Keeping this clown is worse than it seems on the surface. It affects more than football.

How many games do you purchase tickets for each year? Are you contributing to any of this at all? When was the last home game you traveled to and spent money on?

cheap!...if you're, let's say a teacher, making 50k a year you'd have to work 190 years to pay Browns buyout..

While that is true, it’s not like the teacher and a P4 DI football coach are on a similar pay scale and operating budget. While that buyout sounds like a lot, it’s really not in the world of P4 football. I might be wrong, but I think I read Browns buyout is the 12 highest in the Big12. Obviously, it’s a bargain amongst WVU’s peers.

This isn't 1955 anymore. 9 million is not a bad buyout compared to other coaches around the country. We will lose much more than that keeping this going. He has to go

who is we?..you've already admitted that you don't go to the games
I don't go to Every home game like I used to but I still probably go to way more games than you. I went to Penn State and I have tickets to Baylor which I might give away at this point but the tickets have been purchased. How many games do you attend each year?

go to the Baylor game and we can meet somewhere...then I'll tell you

I might go but doubt it. I had higher expectations for this season with a roster like we have. I don't meet people from the internet tho. I know that's your thing but not mine. I have no interest in knowing you in person.
