Documents show Gee met with Houston and others

Wait for tomorrow when Gee takes a dump at a Marriott in Colorado Springs and Buckaineer makes another thread confirming CSU to be added.

If you were obsessed with being productive like you are expansion...you could cure cancer.

Not with 10 teams it wouldn't. Why do you think the PAC 12, ACC, Big Ten and SEC all expanded? More revenues.

For someone with so many links in various posts one would think that of all posters here you would know why expansion is on the list....sigh.

It has been stated and practically etched in stone, the Big12 Expansion Committee of Boren-Gee-Starr are doing so to determine that best way of ensuring an level playing field for entry into the NCP. It is not about markets. It is not about money. It is not a beauty context to pick the prettiest candidate. It is solely to set up the best formula for making sure a Big12 has an equal chance, records being equitable as any other conference champion of getting in the play off games - nothing more.

Learned amateurs across the spectrum on viewpoints state the "reason(s)" for expansion but they are all wrong. There is only one reason. Now, there are considerations in the details and those likely include, revenue, sexy candidates and TV markets but those are not the reason for the expansion.

I have read the "experts" on this board and others and all of them are spinning things to support their own views and that is all of this stuff is, personal opinion and none of it matters.

Boren-Gee-Starr will make their findings known and the assembly will discuss the best way to move forward. But until that choice is made, there is only one topic to discuss, expand or not to ensure the best chance of grabbing an NCP slot. Nothing more.

No actually it's been etched in stone it is about three things all done together. Comprehensive improvements, not one thing alone. Expansion, A CCG and a conference network all done together at the same time. That is what the BIG 12 is working on.

Besides, these schools are not dropping the BIG 12 s SOS, adding two will improve the BIG 12 s chances of making playoffs dramatically from where they'd be if it remains as is, or even if they just added a CCG.

It is only about getting to the NCP.

It is BOREN who has had made it a trifecta of EXPAND + Big12N + CCG. That mix in HIS mind improves the access to the NCP even further, but it was not the Big12's plan to expand to do those three things. You may call that splitting hairs, but it is a big hair.

Stop reading into all of this what you want it to say.

Now, I happen to agree all three things are indeed needed and I also agree that they improve the chances to enter the NCP on an even playing field with the other conferences, but I also realize, this process started with only one metric concerned.

Expansion has only been about giving the Big12 the best path to the NCP.

How we expand and where and with whom are the details that people have come to think of the reason for expansion and they are not. It is not about making more money or expanding TV markets or anything but getting the Big-12 on an even footing to access the NCP.

There are teams wanting in the Big 12 which greatly enhance the conference footprint as well as increase the SOS over Missouri, Liberty, and Youngstown State.

It's not only about the CFP. Here is a direct quote from Bob Bowlsby himself:

Bowlsby was firm in his belief that there are too many other factors involved in the overall health of the conference to make such lofty decisions based entirely on the CFP.

"It's certainly a component, but there are financial aspects, there are lots of other sports involved," Bowlsby said. "There's probably none more important than football, but it isn't just about the playoff. It's an important component, but it's not the only component.

The commissioner of the conference just said it's about more than just the CFP. There's really no way to argue with that.
