My first WVU bowl game. FSU came in the Gator Bowl as a slight favorite. The two previous games they were destroyed by LSU and lost to UF 13-10. We were coming off the Peach Bowl win against the Gators and beat Oklahoma in Norman to start the ‘82 season. I had no doubt we would win. Lol.
It was frigid that night in Jax with a freeze you to the bone rain, I had went to Fernandina Beach on Christmas Day.. 82 degrees just 5 days prior. For a team from the more northern climate I got the feeling we didn’t want to be there.. Funny looking back now because that was Florida State right before they became Florida State.
