Could see a WVU athletics in a power conference like this.

Among the present BXII iteration, I believe only Texas & Oklahoma have more wins than WVU (727, 14th all-time).

With TX down since their 2009 national championship appearance, for the league's sake, it's good that Baylor has risen & TCU has remained solid.

Indeed, tradition, following, and national recognition are extremely important but having teams regularly in the top 10 is paramount for maintaining power 5 status. The PAC was down overall in 2015 and it was obvious. They will likely bounce back in 2016, that's what power 5 conferences do. The Big 12 needs at least 2 teams in the national limelight every season, especially as the smallest conference.

WVU will be playing in the playoffs next season.

Well, it all depends on our vertically challenged QB.

If he plays like his hero Russel Wilson, we should be good. If he plays like Howard of last year, nawl.

TCU football as a 'brand' over WVU ? Yea...you would have to argue over that one.

TCU is a hot program but I highly doubt it has anything close to the following of the Eers ( even in our bad seasons). It's a numbers game... ...do they even have 10,000 students ? A long history of football success (or the exact opposite)? Do you recall EVER seeing a TCU hat/shirt while on vacation at any random spot outside of Texas? ....I bet you see WVU on a fairly regular basis (insert Myrtle Beach joke here).

I won't argue OK St. ....but the Horned Frogs is laughable.

It's definitely close. TCU has national championships, a heisman winner, and does a good job of putting guys in the NFL. They've also won some big time bowl games in recent years, similar to us.

What percent of the population living today was actually alive the last time TCU won a national championship in football? Im sure everyone remembers when Pitt won their National championship it was only 38 years later

I doubt many WVU fans were alive when Clarence Spears was racking up the wins prior to WW1, but our fans still bring up that we are the 14th winningest program of all time, so to me it seemed relevant.

But I do remember 1984 when TCU had no answer for Kevin White, Willie Drewery and Gary Mullen in the Bluebonnet Bowl. WVU made it look easy with a 31-14 victory in the Houston Astrodome. I have to admit my first thought was TC Who?

They have been an overachiever the last few years, but life is usually kind of tough when you are a small Christian university of currently 10,000 students lost among the big guys like UT, A&M and the others. Hey, I'm impressed but WVU is generally a much larger draw with national broadcasts.

Give TCU credit, they always have near sellouts at 50,000 seat Amon G Carter Stadium whether the opponent is UT or Stephen F Austin. The donations by alumni and fans are tops in the Big 12 and although it is private, the athletic budget is believed to be close to that of WVU.

All of that combined is why they are in the Big 12. OK, there is the matter of Texas wanting them. Wasn't that also the final word for WVU?

It is not your size but how you use it...the Miami Hurricanes roar out of a campus that has 4,012 enrolled students on campus. Notre Dame has slightly over 12,000 students. etc. Until we win a championship we sure as hell don't have bragging rights! lol
