...per fan from the East Coast (WV).

If you decided to go today....

-Flight-- $300-500ish.

-Tourny tickets (all sessions...which now you would need)--- Decent seats...$1000ish or much more.

-Hotel-- $250 A night or more (decent/good) walking distance to Sprint Center. Total $1000 (divided by people in room).

-Misc. -- AT LEAST $100 per day. Food, beverage, airport parking (and transportation to hotel), sightseeing...ect... $500 total.

Who is willing to pay that for what could be a one and done (two hour) game experience ??

What costs did I miss ?

All of the games will be on big screen (and flat) HDTV. Save your hard earned cash and just watch the games while enjoying Chinese take-out in your Lazy Boy. More batter.

Nothing wrong with watching from home. If I'm going to attend a WVU game I just prefer to go on the road.... ...and playing in NY wasn't a big deal for me.

Well, you could do it a lot cheaper than that. First , you could drive and gas is cheap now. If I took my good mileage car, it would be a little over $100 for roundtrip gas. Stay at a budget motel a short drive away and it's more like $400 for lodging. Split those 2 ways, and your each only in for $250.

Allowing the $100 per day per person for meals and so forth you're each in for $750 minus cost of getting in the games. If you are adventurous, you could simply pick up tix for the games you want to see on the street and it would be WAY less than $1000 unless your team both played in the first round and made the finals.

In all likelihood you could do the whole thing for about $1000 total and you probably would not be sad if your team made the finals and you had to put out a few hundred more for that game.

...a $1000 total ?

if you want shitty seats and crappy travel...maybe.. ...but doubtful.

Try StubHub as the official tournament tickets are sold out. I saw tickets from $6 - $350.

But flying into KC is pricey for the most part depending on where you're coming from. Still might be cheap seats, I think Frontier flys there. Maybe $250? Keep your hotel and incidentals low and get it for under a grand.

I've checked all pricing for what I'd be willing to accept.

The 6-350 dollar seats are for session one... ...aka play in games. Won't include WVU.

Session 2 is about $300-350 for decent seats. ...and currently a little less expensive for session three (semi-games) because nobody knows who'll be playing. To have tickets in hand for decent seats it'll be about/at least a $1000. (All sessions is a must).

If you're going to travel halfway across the country do you settle for shitty seats or a hotel with stained sheets ? ...I'll agree I could find a cheaper flight if (and I am not) I was willing to go with anything other than nonstop.

Nothing to add to the conversation other than the Kansas City airport, what an absolute cluster that place is. worst designed airport I've ever seen.

Other than the Tourney...is KC worth visiting ?

It's surprisingly good for both food and nightlife. I've been there a few times in recent years, and it's one of the sneaky fun road trips amongst the pro sports cities.

Cool.

It's one of the very few NFL (Steelers road game) cities I have yet to hit. I'll get there... ...eventually.

Kansas City has good BBQ. At least that's the rumor. Speaking just for me.............Texas is the place to get your BBQ. The brisket variety is my favorite and Hutchins in McKinney, Texas is the primo BBQ joint in the Dallas area. It ain't one of those 'clip joint' type restaurants.

Depending on who is in WVU's session, if no KU, you could probably get a better deal once the schedule becomes official. WVU vs Texas Tech and Baylor vs ISU isn't going to set the world on fire in terms of ticket sales at a neutral location.

Look for me on the 6th row center court. Kansas City and the Light and Power District (beside the Sprint Center) is a blast. I will fly out from D.C. - be there Wed-Sunday - and spend about $1000.

And, WVU2010, ISU actually has huge support at the tournament. If we play them the second game on Thursday evening (one possible scenario) they will have 10,000 fans there.

Yes but they arent going to takeover the building and drive up the secondary market in the same way like KU would.

I've lived out here about 3 yrs and have gone to every Big 12 tournament. Its a great event with the Sprint center downtown and located right down in Power and Light District that has a lot of restaurants/bars and some hotels. Kansas City is a good time and depending what your interest are many things to do off tourney times. There are something like 5 casinos along the MO river and out in Legends by the NASCAR racetrack. Best ones are probably Argosy, Hollywood (NASCAR), and Harrahs. If gambling isn't your thing, go to the plaza for dinner/lunch and check out the Nelson Atkins Art Museum and walk around and shop...(the ladies will love it). Lots of history in the area too since this is one of the major starting points of the trails out west. Most interesting museum is the Steamboat Arabia located at the river market. Its a sunken steamboat that was excavated 45 feet down in a cornfield where the Missouri use to flow and displays numerous pieces of mercantile. Has the largest collection of new antique everyday wares in the world including millions of beads that were suppose to be used to trade with Indians. The excavating of the ship is about as interesting as the exhibits. Other museums are Jesse James farm in Kearney and first bank robbed west of Mississippi in Liberty just north of river. Trail museums and Independence close by where Harry Truman's Library is located and other interesting sites. Google things to do in KC for more. So, maybe I can get a free ticket to tournament from KC for being the tourist information promotor. What do you think?

Thx for the detailed reply.

I'm not making this trip though. I'm going on the hope that WVU ends up playing a game in The Dance within a decent driving distance (or in) of Philly.
