New Orleans Saints: NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Sean Payton’s meeting with ownership has concluded, and it went long because of compensation discussion. Payton’s status is still in limbo and may not be decided tonight.

Tennessee Titans: Giants college scouting director Marc Ross will interview for the Titans general manager job, according to CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora.

Georgia Southern: Furman defensive line coach Jimmy Lindsey will join the Georgia Southern staff, according to Sports Illustrated’s Thayer Evans. Lindsey has spent the past four years at Furman. Keep track of new FBS staffs here.

Miami Dolphins: With Dan Campbell reportedly not getting the full-time job, here are the Dolphins assistants now looking for work.

Ball State: Per source, New Orleans Saints quarterbacks coach Mike Neu is a candidate for the Ball State head coaching job. Neu is a former Ball State player and has been with the Saints since 2014.

Jackson State: Per source, former Southern University co-offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Chad Germany will be the offensive coordinator at Jackson State. Germany coached at Southern from 2011-15.

UCF: Oregon linebackers coach Erik Chinander has accepted the defensive coordinator job at UCF, according to The Oregonian. Chinander worked at Oregon from 2014-15 and 2010-12.

San Diego Chargers: In addition to offensive coordinator Frank Reich, other assistants who will not return include offensive line coach Joe D’Alessandris, assistant offensive line coach Andrew Dees, tight ends coach Pete Metzelaars, wide receivers coach Fred Graves and defensive line coach Don Johnson.

Texas Tech: Former South Carolina special teams coordinator Joe Robinson has been named to the same role at Texas Tech. Robinson spent four years at South Carolina and has previously served in the same role at North Carolina and LSU. He is a Texas native. Keep track of open FBS assistant jobs here.

Oregon: Defensive coordinator Don Pellum has been demoted to linebackers coach, and linebackers coach Erik Chinander has accepted a defensive coordinator job at another FBS program.

Miami (FL): Mississippi State defensive assistant Ephraim Banda has joined the Miami staff as safeties coach. Banda spent one year at MSU and previously served as a graduate assistant at Texas, so he has spent two stints with Manny Diaz.

Ball State: Athletic director Mark Sandy tells The Star Press the school hopes to announce a new head coach by Friday or early next week.

Boston College: Former Boston Globe reporter Mark Blaudschun reports Iowa linebackers coach Jim Reid is a candidate for the Boston College defensive coordinator job.

Indianapolis Colts: The Colts say there will not be any news on Chuck Pagano’s future tonight. Several NFL reporters have noted Pagano isn't under contract next season, so both sides would have to agree to move forward on a new deal.

Detroit Lions: The Lions have requested permission to interview Patriots director of pro scouting Bob Quinn for their general manager job, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Quinn has been with the Patriots since 2000, serving in various personnel and scouting roles.

Jacksonville University: Per source, Georgia Tech offensive graduate assistant Steven Sylvester has accepted the running backs job at Jacksonville. Sylvester has spent the past three years on the Georgia Tech staff and is a former GT player.

Texas State: Houston offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Major Applewhite has turned down an interview for the Texas State head coaching job, according to the Austin American-Statesman.

Texas Tech: Director of player development Emmett Jones has been promoted to offensive assistant coach, with position duties announced at a later time. Jones has been on staff since February 2015 and previously was the head coach at South Oak Cliff High School (TX).

San Diego Chargers: Offensive coordinator Frank Reich has been dismissed, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. Reich has been with the Chargers since 2013 and interviewed for NFL head coaching jobs last offseason.

Arizona State: Middle Tennessee State wide receivers coach Kodi Burns will join the Arizona State staff as running backs coach, according to Sports Illustrated’s Thayer Evans, and running backs coach Josh Martin will move to tight ends coach. Burns began coaching as a graduate assistant at Arkansas State in 2012, before moving to Auburn as a GA in 2013, Samford as running backs coach in 2014 and MTSU last year.

Cleveland Browns: Player personnel executives Morocco Brown and Billy Kuharich have been dismissed, according to ESPN’s Dianna Russini.

Utah: Defensive coordinator / defensive line coach John Pease has announced his retirement, and safeties coach / special teams coordinator Morgan Scalley has been promoted to defensive coordinator. Pease came out of retirement last year to join Kyle Whittingham. Scalley has been at Utah since 2007 as a graduate assistant.

Louisiana-Monroe: As previously reported, Stephen F. Austin offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Matt Kubik and Sam Houston State defensive coordinator / linebackers coach Mike Collins have been named to the same roles at ULM. Collins will also have he title of assistant head coach.

USC: The school has officially announced the hiring of Western Kentucky offensive coordinator Tyson Helton as running backs coach / pass game coordinator and WKU offensive line coach Neil Callaway as offensive line coach.





Kent State: Linebackers coach Ben Needham will be promoted to defensive coordinator, according to Sports Illustrated’s Thayer Evans. Needham has been on staff since 2013 and was previously a graduate assistant at Arkansas State. The remaining staff opening is a defensive line coach.

Miami Dolphins: Former Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith will interview for the Dolphins head coaching job today, according to the Miami Herald. Keep track of NFL head coaching interviews here.

NC State: Assistant strength and conditioning coach Dantonio Burnette has been promoted to the head strength job. Burnette is a former NC State player and has been on the strength staff for 12, most recently returning in 2013.

Tulane: Georgia Southern director of strength and conditioning Kyle Speer has taken the same role at Tulane, according to The Advocate. Speer has been with head coach Willie Fritz since 2010 at Sam Houston State.

Fresno State: Scout.com reports former South Carolina co-defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward will join the Fresno State staff as defensive coordinator. Ward spent seven seasons at South Carolina. He previously coached at Virginia Tech and Chattanooga.

New York Giants: Head coach Tom Coughlin will not return, as first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. However, Fox Sports' Mike Garafolo reports Coughlin isn't retiring, and he will coach again if the right opportunity presents itself. Read more here.

Georgia Tech: Special teams coordinator / offensive line coach Ray Rychleski will not return, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Rychleski spent the past two years at Georgia Tech. He has coached since 1981 and has worked in college football, the NFL and CFL.

Miami Dolphins: Buffalo Bills running backs coach Anthony Lynn will interview for the Dolphins head coaching job on Wednesday, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.





Cleveland Browns: Jaguars offensive line coach Doug Marrone will interview for the Cleveland Browns head coaching job on Thursday, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

South Carolina: Ball State head strength and conditioning coach David Feely will join the South Carolina staff as an assistant strength coach, according to the Fort Wayne News Sentinel. In addition, Ellis Johnson’s role at South Carolina will be in an off-field analyst role, according to The State. The remaining full-time staff opening will be an outside linebackers coach.

Tennessee: Miami (FL) interim head coach / tight ends coach Larry Scott will join the Tennessee staff as tight ends coach, according to multiple reports. CanesInSight.com reports Scott had an offer to remain at Miami and turned it down. He had been at Miami since 2013.

San Francisco 49ers: General manager Trent Baalke will return and lead the search for the next head coach.

Texas A&M: Athletic director Eric Hyman tells SportsDay, regarding Kevin Sumlin, “At no time have we ever thought about (Sumlin not coaching here in 2016) and discussed it. That's about as clear as you can be. We've got to be realistic here — if you look at what Kevin has accomplished in the four years, he's been here from a historical standpoint, it's at the top.”

South Carolina: Kurt Roper’s title is co-offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach.

Coastal Carolina: Former James Madison head coach Mickey Matthews has been named defensive coordinator at Coastal Carolina. Matthews was JMU’s head coach from 1999-2013.

Kentucky: Defensive backs coach Derrick Ansley has been promoted to co-defensive coordinator and will receive a raise. Mark Stoops says he was sought after by other SEC programs. Defensive coordinator / inside linebackers coach D.J. Eliot’s title and duties will not change.

Missouri: Louisville safeties coach Greg Brown has been named cornerbacks coach at Missouri. Brown spent two years at Missouri and previously coached Alabama’s defensive backs in 2013.

San Francisco 49ers: With Jim Tomsula out, here are the 49ers assistants now looking for work.

South Carolina: Florida recruiting intern Carina Hargreaves and former Florida office assistant Charity Grady will join Will Muschamp’s recruiting staff at South Carolina, according to Rivals.com. Both previously worked for Muschamp at Florida. Hargreaves has been with the UF program since 2014 and is Vernon Hargreaves Jr.'s sister. Grady worked in the department from 2011-13.

Miami Dolphins: The Dolphins have requested interviews with Patriots offensive coordinator John McDaniels, Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia and Bills running backs / assistant head coach Anthony Lynn, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Arizona: Defensive coordinator / linebackers coach Jeff Casteel and defensive line coach Bill Kirelawich will not return.

San Diego Chargers: Head coach Mike McCoy will be retained, according to CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora, but staff changes are expected. McCoy is 22-26 in three years, including 4-12 this season.

Detroit Lions: Seahawks co-director of player personnel Trent Kirchner will interview for the Lions general manager job, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Tennessee Titans: General manager Ruston Webster has been dismissed, and interim CEO Steve Underwood now has the permanent role. Interim head coach Mike Mularkey will interview for the full-time role.

Memphis: Arizona State co-defensive coordinator / safeties coach Chris Ball has been named defensive coordinator / safeties coach at Memphis. This completes Mike Norvell’s staff.

Rutgers: Assistant defensive backs coach Aaron Henry’s role on staff is full-time. He will work more with cornerbacks, while defensive backs coach Bill Busch will work more with safeties.

Miami Dolphins: Director of college scouting Chris Grier has been named general manager.

Iowa State: Per source, defensive coordinator Jon Heacock will also coach safeties. In addition, Toledo graduate assistants Taylor Mouser, Jeff Myers and Christian Smith and Toledo quality control assistant Mark Thurston have joined the Iowa State staff.


Miami (FL): CanesInSight.com reports American Heritage High School (FL) head coach Mike Rumph will join the Miami staff as cornerbacks coach. Rumph was a starter on Miami's 2001 national championship team. In addition, the site reports Mark Richt’s assistant salary pool will be around $3 million.

New York Giants: Tom Coughlin will meet with ownership at 1 p.m. ET, according to ESPN’s Dan Graziano.

Stanford: As David Shaw continues to say he’s not interested in leaving Stanford, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports he plans to stay and has no interest in the Colts or 49ers jobs.

Virginia Tech: Memphis defensive coordinator Galen Scott has joined the Virginia Tech staff as linebackers coach. Scott had been at Memphis since 2010. This completes Justin Fuente’s staff. See the full staff here.

Carson-Newman University (TN): Larry Slade has been named defensive coordinator at Carson-Newman. Slade spent last season at Central High School (TN) and has previously served as an assistant at Louisville (2009-12) and Tennessee (1999-2008).

Carolina Panthers: Offensive coordinator Mike Shula will not interview for other head coaching jobs while the Panthers are still playing, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Rutgers: Ohio State recruiting assistant Adam Caltury has accepted the director of recruiting job at Rutgers, according to 247Sports. The 25-year-old Caltury spent two years at OSU.

Doug Marrone: The Jaguars offensive line / assistant head coach will interview for the Miami Dolphins and Cleveland Browns head coaching jobs, according to NFL Network’s Rand Getlin.

Dallas Cowboys: Assistant director of player personnel Will McClay has turned down a request by the Lions to interview him for their general manager job, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Georgia Southern: Western Kentucky assistant director of operations Travis Taylor will join the GSU staff as director of football operations, according to WBKO. Taylor spent two years at WKU and is a Georgia native.

Central Arkansas: Per source, running backs coach Mike McCarty has left the staff. McCarty spent two years at Central Arkansas.

Cleveland Browns: With Mike Pettine out, here are the Browns assistants now looking for work.

New Orleans Saints: It may cost teams a 2nd-round pick to get Sean Payton from the Saints, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Cleveland Browns: The Browns have hired Korn Ferry search firm to help their search process.

Miami Dolphins: Former Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan will interview for the Dolphins head coaching job on Tuesday, according to Fox Sports’ Alex Marvez. ESPN's Adam Schefter adds that Shanahan met with the Dolphins on Dec. 22.

Philadelphia Eagles: The Philadelphia Daily News reports the name atop Eagles owner Jeff Lurie’s wishlist is Ravens head coach John Harbaugh. Pro Football Talk reports it won’t happen. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports former Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan has expressed interest in the Eagles job.

Indianapolis Colts: Head coach Chuck Pagano will meet with ownership on Monday about his future. He is not expected to return.

Southern Utah: Per source, Sacramento State offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Paul Peterson has interviewed for the Southern Utah head coaching job. Peterson was previously an assistant at SUU from 2008-11.
