Earlier this evening I went over to the Coaches' Caravan in Morgantown and was able to speak with Head Basketball Coach Bob Huggins as well as Head Football Coach Dana Holgorsen and some of his staff members. Here are the highlights:

-Huggins says Forward Brandon Watkins just had his knee surgery. I asked him if Watkins will be to able play this season and Huggins said, "it's probably possible he takes a redshirt." Huggins also didn't rule anything depending how fast Watkins recovers. Watkins' status for the 2015-16 season really just depends on how well and how quickly he can rehab.

-Huggins also said Daxter Miles Jr. got sick after the season and lost about 15 pounds, but right now is working back to full strength. Miles will be fine for the upcoming season.

-Huggins says he know he certainly has a very tough team. He said that was the biggest notion with the 2014-15 team. He said playing games without Juwan Staten and Gary Browne, with Watkins playing with a bum ACL and Nate Adrian playing hurt, he saw a toughness that wasn't there before.

-With Staten and Browne graduated, Huggins feels that both Tarik Phillip and Jevon Carter gained valuable experience to takeover the starting point guard role.

-On the newcomers, Huggins feels Lamont West has a huge upside since he's young and is already on campus at just 17-years old. Huggins says West should grow some more and get a few inches taller. On Teyvon Myers, Huggins simply likes his ability to score the ball. With James Bolden, Huggins believes he has to gain a little weight. Huggins says Bolden sees the floor very well, which should help the team pass the ball better this season. Finally, with Esa Ahmad, he sees Ahmad as a good shooter that's versatile on both sides of the floor.

-Huggins has high expectations for the recruiting class and says he hopes this group of players can be similar to Kevin Jones, Devin Ebanks and Truck Bryant's recruiting class.

-On the football side, the team was able to start its first set of summer drills this week. The team had staff and player meetings today. They were also able to participate in some on-field drills.

-Holgorsen is very excited that Kyle Bosch was cleared and made eligible for this fall. Holgorsen says they didn't rep Bosch as much as they wanted to during the spring, because they didn't know if he'd be eligible. Adding Bosch helps the overall depth according to Holgorsen.

-Holgorsen says Bosch will certainly be a guard and that Bosch's body type reminds him of Joe Madsen. Bosch will compete for playing time and a starting role. Holgorsen says Bosch has a nasty streak in him and Holgorsen's looking forward to working closely with Bosch.

-Offensive line coach Ron Crook sees Bosch as a guard as well. With the addition of Bosch, Crook says there are seven guys he's comfortable with putting in a game now.

-Holgorsen also got to see Ka'Raun White for the first time on the field today. He said it was eerily similar to how Kevin looked the first time he saw Kevin.

-Receivers coach Lonnie Galloway says he thinks Ka'Raun is really talented. Galloway says he has the expectation for Ka'Raun to be better than Kevin. Galloway says the best thing about Ka'Raun is that he's already on campus. Galloway is excited to see him work with Mike Joseph and the staff.

-At receiver, Galloway says Shelton Gibson, Jordan Thompson and Daikiel Shorts have continued to work well this summer. He's hoping he can find three more receivers to play alongside those guys this fall.

-With the new receivers coming, Galloway believes they'll mostly play outside receiver. He says nothings certain or set in stone, but it's likely that he has the incoming guys play out wide.

-Defensively, Tony Gibson is really excited about the upcoming fall. He says the toughest job for him to do is to keep his defensive guys grounded. Gibson says he can sense the confidence with them, which is good, but he doesn't want them too confident.

-Gibson says after revisiting all the spring film, he says he didn't realize while spring ball was going on how well Dravon Henry, Jeremy Tyler and Noble Nwachukwu were playing. He says those three guys had outstanding spring. Tyler stood out and actually made the free safety spot a competition.

-Gibson also believes Nwachukwu's improvement will translate to to a better pass rush.

-Overall, Gibson and Galloway say the team they have is in a great spot to compete this season. They both feel they have better overall player on the roster and that the depth level has increased dramatically.
