Part of me is very excited about the possibility of Neal Brown as our new coach. He has a lot of characteristics to be excited about. However, a small part of me can't forget Mark Duffer.
For those that don't know, Duffer was the HC at Holy Cross and compiled a 60-5 record there in a run & shoot offense. However, he could never recruit at a P5 level and the Terps were just awful during his tenure (slow & undersized).
I don't worry about Brown's coaching ability. However, he still needs the Jimmy & Joe's.
I know this is somewhat of a piss in your cheerios post and don't mean to be a downer but, I think we can all agree recruiting is going to be a huge part of his or any coaches success. Fickell has demonstrated an ability to recruit and has some solid recruiters on his staff. Brown has shown an ability to develop & coach but, we still need Big 12 speed & size. If he can recruit Big 12 talent I think he'll be a great hire.
