Campus Insiders -- How Much Will Big 12 Title Game Help Conference?

What a joke. The conference that was burned more often than any other by these phony "championship" games suddenly forgets that lesson.

Once again, integrity is sacrificed in the rush to whore themselves out for more money.

It's the right decision. As Oliver Luck said several times, this is an arms race.

Ok...couple of questions.

Is two divisions a requirement ?

If so, are the two teams in the title game required to come from diff divisions?

If both those are required you could actually have the (real) number 1 seed playing a 6th seed based on divisions mostly because teams will still be playing a true round robin schedule. That's to say...if this year the top 5 teams happened to be in the same division (mostly pot-luck) it would have happened.

Divisions were designed for unbalanced schedules.

Why do you need divisions? Can't the 1st and 2nd place teams play? Or if there is a tie use the rankings to determine who plays. And this argument about it hurting a teams chances because of a upset. Win the game. If you're good enough to play for a National Championship you should be able to win your conference championship game.

I think you have to have 2 divisions in order to have a conference championship game.

League is trying to answer two issues with one internal motion. Rather than dividing revenue, this move increases it & they think simultaneously increases the likelihood of playoff inclusion. Time will only tell on the playoff part.

Just all about more millions. Don't see the need to rematch within a round robin. The winner is already decided. Has there ever been a divisionless conference that had a conference championship game?

With this model, I doubt the BXII will ever expand.
