The numbers say that WVU will be 10-2, losing only to Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. 8-4 if you don't count Texas (5-5) and Long Island (0-0 and barely a football school) as W's. If Neal Brown can’t pull that off then he’s not matching what’s normal for the Mountaineers against these 12 opponents.

Check the numbers:

Maryland 28-22-2

Long Island 0-0

Virginia Tech 28-22-1

Oklahoma 2-10

Texas Tech 6-4

Baylor 6-3

TCU 6-4

Iowa State 5-4

Oklahoma State 4-8

Kansas State 6-5

Texas 5-5

Kansas 9-1

Rich met or exceeded the 10-2 benchmark 3 straight seasons (2005, 2006, 2007) so the numbers say it isn’t that tough. And hit 8-4 or better 5 of his 7 seasons. So it can't be that difficult, right?

Rich's numbers:

3-8 in 2001

9-4 in 2002

8-5 in 2003

8-4 in 2004

11-1 in 2005

11-2 in 2006

10-2 in 2007

So, Neal Brown is .500 so far. Rich was 12-12 and .500 after 2 seasons so Rich was doing no better than Neal in his first 2 seasons at WVU. But then Rich went 48-14. Can Neal match that? Sure hope so. If not, WVU will go looking for someone else to be as good as Rich at coaching the Mountaineers.

I’m rooting for the numbers – and Neal – to just be “average.” You know, 10-2. Or, even, 8-4 although I really don't think Long Island is an L and Texas is a tossup, according to the numbers.

Don't yell at me. Yell at the numbers. WVU will have a schedule where they own 10 teams. Well 8 if you don't count Long Island (really? It's a payday game for Long Island) or Texas (5-5, at least a coin toss). So 8-4 minimum. Surely no one is putting Long Island in the L column.

Since someone else brought it up it took my 10 minutes to get the answer about how Rich did against Maryland and Virginia Tech. He didn't have a losing record against each one. So Neal should have it easy, right?

Rich’s seasons at WVU:
3-8 in 2001 lost 20-32 to Maryland
9-4 in 2002 lost 17-48 to Maryland won 21-18 over Virginia Tech
8-5 in 2003 lost 7-34 to Maryland won 28-7 over Virginia Tech
8-4 in 2004 won 19-16 over Maryland lost 13-19 to Virginia Tech
11-1 in 2005 won 31-19 over Maryland lost 17-34 to Virginia Tech
11-2 in 2006 won 45-24 over Maryland
10-2 in 2007 won 31-14 over Maryland

4-3 vs. Maryland 2-2 vs. Virginia Tech

Any other smart-ass responses? Why can't people take 10 minutes to answer their own questions instead of being snarky about it?

Revised numbers say

With a little help from my friends, the revised numbers say that, if Neal beats Maryland or Virginia Tech that he does better than Rich did. I stand corrected by my friends and the numbers.

Rich seasons at WVU

3-8 in 2001 lost 20-32 to Maryland lost 0-35 to Virginia Tech
9-4 in 2002 lost 17-48 to Maryland won 21-18 over Virginia Tech
8-5 in 2003 lost 7-34 to Maryland and 7-41 in bowl (why would bowl put together such an obvious mismatch?) won 28-7 over Virginia Tech
8-4 in 2004 won 19-16 over Maryland lost 13-19 to Virginia Tech
11-1 in 2005 won 31-19 over Maryland lost 17-34 to Virginia Tech
11-2 in 2006 won 45-24 over Maryland
10-2 in 2007 won 31-14 over Maryland

4-4 vs. Maryland 2-3 vs. Virginia Tech
4 straight losses to Maryland, then 4 straight victories over Maryland.
Numbers say that if Neal beats Maryland and/or Virginia Tech he will do better than Rich did.

But the total series numbers against each opponent say that WVU would be 8-2-1 with Long Island a first-time opponent so there are no numbers to tell us what to expect there.

Being corrected by others seems to your life. It's in the numbers. Just saying.

Those numbers don't say anything except that is what we did in the past. To think otherwise is foolish. Doesn't take into consideration any player, coaching or competition factors.

CFEBUCKY doesn't lie when it comes to numbers. They tell all. The fake 88 year old is a troll nothing more. It's in the numbers.

Rich is white trash,
WVU Alumni -
who attempted (without success) to destroy his own Alumni.

In that - PricRod attempted
(without success) damage to the state that he originated from.

There is no Greatness,
is being White Trash.

No Celebration.
No Hall of Fame.
No College Football HOF.

Enter Louisiana Monroe.

Well remember that even white trash are privileged just because they are white. Social media and the loons making up SloJoe's white house says its so.
