To illustrate the difference between my alma mater and your favorite school, consider LB Reid Carrico. He couldn't crack Ohio State's two-deep, but led WVU in tackles against Baylor this season. Rich Fraud might do well in the watered-down Big 12 like he did in the watered-down Big East, but he'll never win a national championship, just like tHuggins never did.

"WV should win 9 a year" you say? WVU has won 9 games once in the last 8 seasons and twice in the last 13 seasons. In contrast, Ohio State has won at least 11 games in every season since 2012, except for the 2020 COVID year when it went 7-1.

CJ was picked up as a need player for Ohio State, as a big back that can pick up 3-4 yards when needed. It's something Ohio State lacked and now they have it. Michigan has utilized the big back for the last few years, and it makes a difference in big boy football, which is obviously what Ohio State felt they were lacking in close physical games. Sorry for your loss. Spot the ball should work well in the Big XII, but thats as far as you'll ever go, or at least 150 years of history suggests.

Pass-happy Ryan Day and Chip Kelly won't ever do this, but what they should do is use Donaldson often late in games when the Buckeyes are ahead by only a score or two. Bill Parcells was a master of this. I remember several games when he used Marion Barber (RIP) as a battering ram late in games to preserve a small lead and run clock. Small linebackers and DBs have no interest in tackling big backs when they're tired and beat-up late in games. Parcells' teams rarely blew fourth-quarter leads. The winner of the Ohio State/Michigan game outgaining the opponent on the ground for 23 consecutive years is an amazing fact.
Correct. The big back, like a Donaldson is how Michigan would wear teams down, and then humiliate them up a score in the late 3rd quarter and 4th quarter and grind out a nine minute drive to seal the game.
I'm certain you're reading the main board as jilted guys like Tbone61 are now calling him an awful running back. I searched history and see that they, the same exact people were calling him the best running back they've ever had just two years ago.

Yep, it's funny to watch them pivot and cry on the main board. I actually liked Donaldson a lot when he was a freshman and thought that WVU wisely figured out that Donaldson would be more valuable as a power back than a tight end. However, he's definitely a one-trick pony as a runner, as he lacks the speed to get outside. If used correctly, then he could be a very good back in short-yardage and late-game situations, but I don't have confidence in Day and Kelly to figure out how to best use him.
