West Virginia head coach Neal Brown discusses what is returning on the offensive line and a budding star at running back in CJ Donaldson. Added some all-conference players in the secondary.

On the quarterback battle, Brown said they have a high belief in both of the options. Garrett Greene has played a lot of football and had a great performance against Oklahoma. Nicco Marchiol is developing and they're going to keep the battle going into the fall.

Offense will be quite a bit different and anytime you change the style you'll have that. They're going to allow the QBs to run and they've added speed at wideout. They need to take advantage of the things that they need to take advantage of with a quarterback that can run the football.

There's no pro-sports in West Virginia and Mountaineers games in the fall are events. You don't get married or have anything going on during those weekends.

Devin Carter brings experience and has started 42 games. They needed to make over that room and increase efficiency. He will be the leader in that room and has an established work ethic. Then they've added some guys that can run and take the top off of the defense.

From a fan base standpoint, adding Cincinnati is a drivable game in the conference. It won't affect what they're doing in recruiting because they have a six-hour radius.

Backyard Brawl is a Saturday night game and they felt like they let the one last year slip away. They played well but didn't finish and the fans have circled. It's a chance at redemption for them and the fans will be ready.

Brown said the first five games is really challenging. Going to Penn State is a challenge but a great opportunity to show they made improvements. Not the schedule he would make, but it's a 12-round fight and there are no days off and they need to be ready to go every week. Brown feels like the Big 12 top to bottom is as competitive of a league as anybody.

Brown said the job he has currently is way different than the job he accepted and that's the same way across college football. They have experience and take what they've learned from the failures and use that experience to grow.

The hardest part is roster management and have to have the mindset of building teams year to year. You don't have the luxury of building teams three or four years down the road, you have to put together the best team to win against the schedule you have this year.
