Bring back Rich Rod!!!! Crank up some Journey

I'm fine if Dana is retained for another season. The team seems close to being great, but he can't be defended forever. If he were fired - I'm with you. Bring back RR. There is a lot of talent on this team and I think his system is best for the way we recruit. We'll lose games with RR, but I just feel more comfortable with him in charge.

Next year will NOT be good. Our defense will be young in major spots, or at least inexperienced. And on offense, it isn't getting better there either. If Howard goes the rest of the year as QB, then he will be the QB again next year.

I'm too pissed off to think straight. We HAD to win this game. We are a better program than this. Shitte. I know, it's just a game. But our program is BETTER than the Big12 DOORMAT!!!!

LOL, I was on board with bringing back Rich Rod 2 years ago.

I rather be an idiot than a Dana Apologist.

Every year we think dana has finally "figured it out" or "gotten the message". After a few early season crappy teams that we blow out, everyone jumps on board the dana hype train and thinks he's finally matured into an excellent head coach that we would be lucky to retain for the duration.

Then the second or third week of october comes (in our case, the first week this season) and we start dropping games. At first, it looks like a fluke because of a little bit of bad luck. But then by the beginning of December, we're praying to get to a bowl... any bowl. That has been the script for the last 4 years. Oh yea, and when we do get to some turd bowl? We get blown out by a turd team.

For 5 years we've been talking about Dana "growing up", and every off season there are rumors and mumblings about this finally being "dana's breakout year".

Here's an unfortunate ****ing reality: there will never be a breakout year for Dana. He is a horrible coach and he has cost us the better part of a decade of football success and enjoyment.

Just so he can eventually leave again? Nah, he burned too many bridges to return.

Least WVU could experience winning again, even if only for short period because with Dana, I see no winning anytime soon. Next year is going to be worse than this year with the same quarterback and many roster turnover on the defense side of ball.

How many National Titles does RR have again since he left? BCS trophies? Hell, just bowl game wins?

The game has passed him by. He ruined Michigan. Couldn't beat a 4-7 Pitt team in his last game at WVU. No thanks. He was good...for a while...in the Big East. And Jim Leavitt owned him in that watered-down conference.

Thanks but....NO thanks! .....although I may just be a hair away from my wit's end with Dana...this was a game that the players made mistakes early and corrected them...then the HC made bone nosed decisions.

He's doing a great job at Arizona. What does National Titles have to do with it? You think Saban or Meyer are coming to WVU to coach?

If national titles are required to be a good coach, then there are only 5 good ones currently employed.

If BCS trophies are the requirement, then I'll side with the coach who has proven he can recruit enough players to reach multiple BCS-level games with multiple schools in multiple conferences over the coach who has yet to recruit one such roster.

If bowl wins are the requirement, then I'll side with the guy who won more in his first 2 seasons at Arizona than Holgorsen did in his first 4 years here.

If Rich were to return to WVU it wouldn't be because he was born here it would be for the money. I agree with you on that.

RR almost ruined Michigan and is never returning to WVU. Fans who think RR or Saban or Fisher are coming back to West Virginia to coach because they were born here are delusional.

True that!

I'd rather give Gibson a shot if he wants it. There's a coach at UK who probably thinks that he would have more resources at WVU than he has now at his BB focused school. He'd make the jump.

I like Rich Rod in fact he recruited me while he was at Glenville State. But what makes you think that he would leave sunny Arizona for West Virginia, I do not think unlimited pepperoni rolls will do it

UK has been pouring money into that program and the stadium and they have had several great years recruiting, so I doubt if THAT coach is moving soon. I think Kentucky is going to move up in the SEC in football. That being said I think we need to get beyond fire Dana and hire RR mentality. There are hundreds of programs out there with coaches who would jump at the WVU job. Our program is easily one of the top 60 programs, our facilities are really good, our fan base is passionate. When it comes time to think about our next coach we need to get past bringing back some alumnus or someone with WV roots and sell this for the plum job that it is. Lets not get confused here, I'm not saying we are a top 25 program, but we are somewhere between 60 and 26 and COULD be a top 25 program with the right guy. We can compete in the Big12 with the right coach.

I'm not the biggest fan of the way RR left, but he's Vince Lombardi compared to what we have now. He's averaging 8-9 wins a year with a very similar strength of schedule (we are averaging 6-7 six joining big 12). I'd keep Gibby at DC and I think the read option would do well in the Big XII because half the teams are running offenses similar to what we have now. We always do better with a unique system (e.g. 3-3-5).

and let's welcome him back with open arms!!!!

Go ahead and just try getting RR back to WV. He has found a home in Arizona. Those folks have more money than WV can ever come up with to throw at a head coach and his football team. Rita is happy and so is Rich. But.............on the other hand................money talks!

I don't think RR is staying at Arizona long. He's doing great there and people inside college football do respect him as a coach. He's still young. Other programs will be courting him. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a call from Maryland or VT (if Beamer retires).

Wouldn't that be awesome? Our fans bitching and moaning against Rich Rod coming back just to see him go to a rival, come to our field, and beat us. Personally, the best coach should replace what we have right now. If that's Rich Rod, so be it. People need to get over their petty dislikes of what he did or did not do. Besides, we don't know anything that went down for sure. All we know is what the sensationalist media and Internet "know-it-alls" told us went on when he left. But these days, I guess that's gospel.

Pitt guy asking an honest question: at WVU - has anyone other than Geno really run Dana's system consistently well? I've seen him say his system is simple, but haven't the results been spotty. And believe me - as a Pitt guy I fully understand sub-standard QB play. So I'm not bashing, (as I sit here in my South Charleston home) - I'm asking.

Let's carry this out to its obvious conclusion. Bring back Rich Rodriguez, Doc Holliday (as proposed on the other board), Bobby Bowden (hey, he's not dead yet), and resurrect Bill Stewart. What a coaching staff we would have! National title would be automatic.

Hell, let's get Nick Saban to join them.

We know exactly what went down. He lied to us, said he "would be here forever" and when we were on the verge of playing for a NC, he was talking to Michigan. I don't give a damn if he stays in Arizona or coaches one of our rivals and beats us, as long as he NEVER comes back here. What's so hard to understand about that?

Not taking up for or bashing Rod, but if Jarrett Brown didn't bobble a snap late in that game he more than likely completes a bubble screen that was set up perfectly against a blitz happy Pitt defense and it goes for a TD. Anyone remember that play? Pitt sent the house and our WR got blocks on both sides. It was one safety left to catch whomever got the ball with at least one free lead blocker and that safety was about 8 yards off the line.
Not saying winning that game wins us the title or keeps Rod here but its crazy how mishandling a snap for maybe just over a second can change things.
Rod coached a terrible game that day but that call was at the perfect time and was set up well.

Bubba I have no idea what your sign means, but if there is a constructive argument for that sign I think that you're smoking too much to think DickRod would be welcome back with open arms. I for one and I know about the majority of the people around Dub V wouldn't like it if he came back. I really doubt that he would welcome back with open arms. Just my two cents.

Don't kid yourself. RRod's ego is too big for Arizona and the Pac 12. Their games are being played at 10p.m., when almost nobody is watching. RRod wants to be in the limelight and Arizona is not providing that. He would leave IMO.
