Big 12 basketball taking it on the chin

The poster named doctom1 was right after all: This conference is terribly overrated in both basketball and football.

I didn't think so when we first joined, but I can see now that I was wrong. Still glad we are members, but as an athletic conference it gets embarrassed on the national stage far too often to claim it's any better than 4th or 5th in the pecking order.
 
It's the same story every year. The Big 12 wins the RPI National Championship, then flops in the Big Dance. The RPI is a flawed metric.

oh really? How do you explain how the big 12 has put more players into the NBA than any other conference of the last 10 years?
 
I do think it's overrated on the football side because it's all similar passing finesse offense, little defense & zero football titles for 11 years & counting. 3 titles in league history. 2 I think were won by Miami for the Big East, so by that, pretty similar.

Given the climate of the win 6 in a row NCAAs and still considering No. 1 overall KU and 2 seed OU, I'm not ready to assign it overrated basketball just yet.

For the 'Eers, I see nothing easy/overrated to what WV did this regular season & in KC. Would SFA have got 26 wins vs our schedule?

lmao the point is the league with the best overall players is the strongest league. You name Stephen curry as if he was the typical player coming out of the A10. Learn how to debate intelligently and attempt to follow along. Your argument would be like trying to show Randy Moss was the typical WV high school football recruit.
 
Big XII has been over-rated for last 2 years. NCAA tournament has proven that.

Since when are 10 and 6 the same number? Maybe you should read what you actually post. You have proven many times that numbers aren't your strong suit and reading comprehension obviously isn't either

As for my 10 years, that info was provided during the NCAA tournament last year.

It proves you don't know how to read. Your article was written 10/29/13. Going back six years would men a period from 2007-2013. The article I provided accounted for a period from 2005-2015. 10 and 6 are different numbers why don't you post something more up to date and stop making a fool out of yourself

The last 6 years from 2013 last i checked it was 2016. Here is a list of how many players where on NBA rosters at the start of the current Basketball season.

All five power conferences currently have more NBA players on active rosters than the Big 12 does . The Big 12 puts more players in the NBA percentage wise than the Big 10 does when you consider the difference in size of the leagues but is behind the SEC Acc and Pac 12 even when considering the size of the conferences

Assuming your claim is correct your better debate material sounds to me like great players don't equate to creating the best teams nationally. Big 12 has great players but no team depth nationally. Of course Kansas is great and Oklahoma is very good. March Madness always finds the weakness of a team. WVU had tons of strengths but to many weaknesses. Does that help?

This. And over those 3 years between his article date until today, the B12 had zero Elite 8 teams. And for the record, the article says "draft picks" which is different from the number who actually make the rosters.

The idea of the first weekend of the tournament being a referendum on conference strength is silly. Does it prove anything? What if KU and OU get to Final Four? Not far fetched.

Until the Big 12 decides to play major college basketball rules during the regular season and not this ticky tack high school rules bs during the season they will get embarrassed every post season. People standing around waiting for a foul to be called that never is....playing off on defense because they are afraid of being called for a foul....That wasn't a problem when we were in the Big East. WVU's biggest problem was our guys underestimated that team and we don't have a point guard or guys that can make shots. Hopefully, Huggins can find a PG for next year.
 
Maybe the NBA is not taking the very best of the college players but rather are taking the marquee players. You know, the ones that can draw a paying crowd to the pro game.
