IRVING, Texas – After winning last year’s conference title and making an appearance in the 2015 College Football Playoff semifinals, Oklahoma has been chosen as the favorite to win the 2016 championship. The Big 12 football preseason poll is voted on by media representatives who cover the league.

This year marks the fourth since 2011 in which the Sooners topped the preseason rankings. They have captured a Big 12-record nine league titles.

OU garnered 24 of 26 first-place votes and tallied 258 points. TCU picked up the other two first-place votes and totaled 222 points. Oklahoma State, Baylor and Texas rounded out the top five followed by Texas Tech, West Virginia, Kansas State, Iowa State and Kansas.

The Sooners welcome back 13 starters from offense and defense, including junior quarterback Baker Mayfield. He was the Conference’s Preseason Offensive Player of the Year after earning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year accolades at the conclusion of the 2015 campaign.

Head coaches and selected student-athletes will converge in Dallas on July 18-19 for the annual Big 12 Football Media Days. Both days will be televised live from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. CT on FS2 and additional FOX Sports affiliates. Exclusive, live coverage from the event will also be available on the Big 12’s digital platforms – Big12Sports.com, Twitter and Instagram (@Big12Conference). The official hashtag for the event will be #Big12FB.

I am not a fan of preseason polls. Bragging about where media thinks you will finish is very ham n eggs.

I don't get it. Baylor is imploding and we beat Texas and TT decisively. The Big 12 lost a lot of offensive heavy hitters from last season. If I was doing the poll, Oklahoma is definitely on top, Kansas and ISU definitely on bottom, everything else is debatable.

We have to win more this season. That's the bottom line.

I tend to agree...KU a lock for the basement and Oklahoma clearly at the top but the rest let the scoreboard determine, we shall see!

This is almost identical to wvu's place in the conference since joining. wvu has finished with an average ranking third from the bottom, just in front of powerhouses Kansas and Iowa State, since being in the big 12. You three are the doormats for the real P5 teams.

Two players made the preseason team. Only two other teams had less than two, so again, you're third from the bottom in the conference. It could have been worse. There was a tie in voting for defensive lineman, so it created two additional positions on the team, one of which went to a wvu player.

You guys are once again slated to be one of the three conference doormats.

Only to a delusional WVU fan, such as shortbuswvu, is a 31-26 win a "decisive" victory. Considering how much every decent Big 12 program, other than Oklahoma, has lost since last season, WVU fans should be embarrassed by what have become incredibly low expectations. Seventh place in a conference with only one national power (Oklahoma)?

The TT game was never in doubt to me. We had 300+ rushing and had it 1st &Goal inside the 5 before deciding not to score (which would have put us up double digits) and kneeling. But, you know, nice try.

Good point, shortbus. The final score doesn't matter, and neither does the fact that Texas Tech scored halfway through the 4th Quarter to make it 31-26. One late WVU turnover, and the Mountaingoats choke, but this was such a decisive victory in your world of make believe. I still remember what Tuberville's Red Raiders did to the most overrated team in the Nation when Geno Smith couldn't throw in the wind. Now, THAT was a decisive win.

Please tell me that kitty cat is not banging her chest about a fifth place (tie). How weak have WVU fans become? We're No. 5 (sort of), we're No. 5 (kind of), we're No. 5 (but seventh, too)!

Glad you watch that much WVU.

TT did surge towards the end of the game, but we went victory formation inside the 5. We could have scored easily to go up double digits. We were running all over them. We won and not by the skin of our teeth. Now, 2014, that is another story. We were getting our dicks kicked and mounted a late comeback.

Not a 3-way tie. WVU finished 5th place. My stalker is trying to place Big East rules on the Big 12.

According to Big 12 rules WVU finished 5th.

You're still bragging about finishing 5th, kitty cat. Looking at the standings, WVU, TTU and Texas all were 4-5 in conference play. Sure looks like a tie to me, but who really cares, as it's fifth place, at best?

lol... you idiot mooooooers talking shit on ANY other program is just priceless...

watch out for them triple-digit boogercats when it comes to SOS...

WVU beat Texas and Texas Tech.

Why does an "OSU" fan care so much anyway? I think I know why.

It is ok. It takes a special kind of loser to brag about preseason media rankings. .

You and 30kitty realize this thread was started by a wvu fan . . . to brag about preseason media rankings and watch lists . . . right? Of course you don't, because you both are too god damn stupid to remember that far back.

Calling your own a "special kind of loser." wvu82, how do you feel about that?

I posted it to show you what the Big12 thinks about us... which is a lack of respect, but we're kind of used to that by now.

Gibson made the Biletnikoff list and the Big12 didn't even include him in the write-up.

The Biletnikoff Award was created in 1994 by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation to honor Fred Biletnikoff, a member of the Pro and College Football Halls of Fame. Big 12 representatives are KD Cannon (Baylor), Allen Lazard (Iowa State), Marcell Ateman (Oklahoma State) and James Washington (Oklahoma State).

I'm not bragging about anything... lol

"Your" was properly used by me. Don't you hate when you try to correct somebody and fail, kitty?

No....You haven't had a chance to edit your mistake yet, but I'm sure you will, once I show you your mistake. Kind of like when you used "do" when you should have used "due?"...Remember that? Well, you incorrectly used "you're" in the following post and I just thought this was an appropriate time to show you...Right after you call us stupid.

Waaaaait! You're comically bad rating system did that exact same thing. Now, you're claiming we shouldn't go by that?

Here's the link to "you're" post. It's not edited yet, but I'm sure it will be...and then you can lie about it.

So bored that you're back to Photoshopping again. But, this time, you put it in another thread to not call attention to your Photoshopping. Bravo.

Stings doesn't it? You really hate being wrong, don't you? Down to the simplest mistake and you still can't take it.

Don't let it get you down. I'm sure everyone believes you.

Lol!!! By golly, you did edit. I guess I would have too.

You're welcome. I'm going to have to start charging.
