Charley was born in Wheeling and was all-state in football, basketball and baseball at Benwood Union and played for WVU in 1938-1941. He started with the Rams, went into the service during World War II, and was with the Steelers from 1946-1950.
He was inducted into the WVU Hall of Fame in 2004. He was on the WVU 1940s all-time team.
Tennessee’s best is Chad Pennington, who played for Marshall.
Seabright was chosen over Princeton native Jim Walthall, who played for the Eagles; and Weston native Fred Wyant, who played for the Redskins.
