Bannon finally admits it.........it isn't about "waste".........

You left out the part of what he said about MAGA voters connected to Medicaid. But that's your edited spin. I expected that.

WTF are going on about? Yes there less fortunate that voted for Trump. They love their Country too. So let's concentrate on the fraud and abuse because they are illegal. Once we see how much money we can save then we can discuss the waste part and what taxpayers want their money spent on. It's definitely not illegal aliens when Americans here is where most draw the line in assistance. Make Missionary and charity work great again without the human smuggling.

Cut 'em off. See how that impacts voting in 2026 and 2028.

I get it. You want open borders and to bankrupt the country instead of helping Americans First. Like I said. This isn't that hard. First we identify the fraud and abuse. Then we can debate what we have left to spend to help lift Americans up.

Last year, $9B of the $35B that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) granted for research was used for administrative overhead, what is known as “indirect costs.” Today, NIH lowered the maximum indirect cost rate research institutions can charge the government to 15%, above what many major foundations allow and much lower than the 60%+ that some institutions charge the government today. This change will save more than $4B a year effective immediately.

Dude. Keep trying. I've got many things documented on here throughout the years. Easy to look up. I've said I want border security, I want welfare reform. It's your MAGA that is showing their true colors. They only care about MAGA, not all Americans.

You are as full of shit as they were. It's a fvcking audit that Congress and the Senate will have to use to make adjustments going forward. Your tribe is pissed because of what the audit will show. Which is dumb as hell to fight it. The large majority of the Country want it. The more they see the more that will get on board. My advice would be if you want to ever win an election again is STFU and let it happen. Matter of fact you should be praising it. But you Commies and Globalist will ignore my advice because you haven't learned anything and I'm ok with that.

You should be fighting for your States to be audited correctly too.

Dear Lord. Get it through your THICK RETARDED SKULL. I am 100% for it! Audit it all. Cut the spending. Cut the welfare system. Cut the DOE. Close the borders. Do it. PLEASE!

What you are failing to see is this. Once this "audit" is finished, and jobs are cut, and payments/subsidies are cut, those that voted Republican in 2020 and 2024 will quickly switch because they'll realize that the wealthy got the tax cuts, and they got thrown out in the wash.

Odd, two of my CNNer friends said the same thing to me this weekend. But you don't follow the media. lol

The next 4 years are going to be tough for you.

Ok. Hey, I'm all for cutting Medicaid. But you disagree with him about his assessment? That it would mean losing that demographic for 2026 and 2028 voting?
Losing the demographic to who? Nobody is going to vote for democrats after seeing what they have done to the country.

I know you heard someone tell you that but you should think that through a little because it doesn't make sense.

I’ve been here the entire time. You are the one that goes in to hibernation.

Republicans may have just gotten an alarming glimpse of the future.

The program has evolved and expanded significantly over the years — and its constituency has expanded along with it. Some 80 million people now get health care from Medicaid, including many working-class voters in the president’s base.

During the 2024 campaign, Trump frequently reassured jittery Americans that he wouldn’t lay a finger on their Social Security or Medicare. Medicaid didn’t get the same protective promises.

It’s not just the social safety net; Medicaid also matters to the bottom line of hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, drug companies, doctors and other health providers. They have a lot of political clout, in the states and D.C.

“Medicaid is not as politically sacrosanct as Medicare and Social Security but it’s a program that touches an enormous number of people,” said Larry Levitt, executive vice president for health policy at KFF. Deep cuts would provoke “a firestorm of political opposition from all segments of the industry and patient advocates.”

Of course, the growing reliance on and support for Medicaid does not mean sweeping change is impossible.

Republicans learned early in the first Trump presidency the perils of messing with people’s health care after they tried and failed to repeal Obamacare. It turns out that it’s way harder to take benefits away than it is to bestow them.

GOP lawmakers are, overall, more conservative and more pro-Trump than eight years ago and so far, they’ve largely fallen in line. But it’s early days. Saving money may sound great to Trump voters. Losing health benefits — for themselves or their kids or Grandma — may not be kind of the bargain they’re looking for.

Accurate, but it shows a low level understanding of the root cause. Medicaid is a necessary thing, however, under Obama and Biden, the bar for what qualified under disability was lowered so low, it nearly doubled the dependency class. For funsies, you ought to go look what qualifies currently for disability. It’s fvcking stupid.

Strategically, this one was done to force people over to the ACA, which isn’t sustainable and they knew it. The long term plan was always for the ACA to crumble on itself and then we just have a European or Canadian model of healthcare.

Not one person can say we have better healthcare today now than we did before the massive expansion of Medicaid.

The way out of this is multifaceted, first, through employment growth and getting people off of the dole. The second is we have to adjust the low bar and raise it back up incrementally which should force able bodied people back into the work pool and off the dole.

Immediately, we have to get illegals off of all Govt assistance. Thats just absurd.

The goal was to create dependence and Democrats have always wanted that. They succeeded. As the article cites, it’s much more difficult to take something away than to bestow it. You articulated it perfectly.

Illegals no doubt need off all government assistance.

This from 2016 Trumps first term.
The Medicaid program is jointly funded by the federal government and states. The federal government pays states for a specified percentage of program expenditures, called the Federal Medical Assistance Percentage (FMAP). States must ensure they can fund their share of Medicaid expenditures for the care and services available under their state plan.

States can establish their own Medicaid provider payment rates within federal requirements, and generally pay for services through fee-for-service or managed care arrangements. To change the way they pay Medicaid providers, states must submit a State Plan Amendment (SPA) for CMS review and approval.

Options to Reduce Federal Medicaid Spending

One way to reduce Medicaid spending growth and significantly limit the federal government’s exposure to such growth is replace the current match with state block grants or to cap the annual growth in payments to states. Block grants or caps could be segmented by category or applied broadly, could be based on per capita or overall growth, and could grow at any rate policymakers choose. As an example, a per category cap that limits growth of federal payments to the rate of inflation would save the federal government about $950 billion through 2035. Lawmakers could also consider a ‘softer’ cap that allows states the opportunity to make changes when costs grow above the cap and offers a partial reimbursement (at a lower FMAP) for spending in excess of the cap.

Biden - Harris
The Medicaid program – a joint federal-state program that provides health care to low-income populations – is projected to cost the federal government nearly $8 trillion over the next decade.

Funny thing about being dependent on government..... they own you . If you are dependent on government health care they can tell you what to eat or what medicine you have to take . If you are dependent for food , yep they can tell you what to eat .
Democrats socialists know this and it's been their plan for generations. Socialists don't want to take care of people they want to control people. Being dependent makes you a slave.

Bingo! That is exactly the moment most people “wake up” and switch over from Democrat to Republican. Almost like a “oh my god” moment.

I got it. Easy fix:

1. Just don't get sick, don't require medical procedures......just ignore it, no matter if its stage 4 cancer, or heart disease, etc. If you. ignore it, it doesn't exist.
2. If you do go to the hospital for care, just don't pay your bill.

Easy fix. If you are poor. If you are middle class. Easy fix.

On a serious note, I've got insurance. My wife has insurance. She's diabetic. I avoid going to any doctor as much as I can (went once in past 5 years for kidney stone). She requires many visits. The costs for her visits, medicines, procedures, etc. are still mind blowing for a middle class family making $120,000+/year. I can't imagine for anyone less than that. My father had heart attack and passed away just a bit ago. The cost to spend 15 minutes trying to revive him? Over $150,000. I told my mother don't pay it. F**k them.

Are there people who "cheat" the system? Absolutely. But the root problem in our nation isn't Medicaid/Medicare/Social Security scamming. It's the hospitals and big pharm who lobby BOTH SIDES to keep prices high because they know that many Americans cannot say "no" to care. It's not like gas/oil prices where you can say "screw it, I'm buying an EV or walking or riding a bike". If you do that with your health, you die.

I see your point here .
I have insurance and my wife has good insurance. Deductible is ridiculous. I think the more government does the higher the cost , think college tuition.
I could be wrong but if I remember correctly Obama saying the high medical bills was due to people not paying medical bills and hospitals raising prices to make up for it . One of the few times I agreed with Obama was when he said people will pay 100$ + a month for cable but won't pay medical bills.
People will spend every nickel on wants ,buy homes they can't afford, get the loaded cars and spend 5,10 G on multiple vacations a year . Not to mention the amount of waist spent on 5$ coffee and out to eat 3,4 times a week.
Yes medical is expensive and it sucks but it's not up to me to pay your medical bills to keep you alive .( not meaning you personally) .
I'm about to spend 4G $ on teeth because my union dental plan sucks monkey balz. I've saved the money drinking cheap coffee every morning and buying cheap vehicles.

You’re about half right. Hospitals are losing money. That’s why you’re seeing all the small rural hospitals being bought and merged into large healthcare systems. It’s becoming a monopoly fast and your choices are getting slimmer. You can blame many things. It probably started as greed by these hospitals before the ACA put in Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement guidelines. Before this, hospitals kept patients longer and sometimes unnecessary testing was done and most of the time patients got better. Now it’s length of stay. Reimbursement are based on DRG “diagnosis related group”. What that means is, a hospital gets a set amount of money based on a national average hospital stay for the diagnosis. For instance, let’s assume COPD is average hospital stay of 5 days. The hospital gets reimbursed for 5 days. Nevermind you are also 85 years old with COPD and CHF and a diabetic. It might take you longer to get better than the 45 year old admitted for COPD. Doesn’t matter. You got DC’d because that’s how it works. And if the hospital keeps you longer, they don’t get paid for the extra days. The problem isn’t the hospital. It’s the insurances and the Obamacare regulations placed onto Medicare and Medicaid.

I’d also add, much like student loans, when it’s Govt backed, there is very little incentive to control cost.
