If I'm a bank and issue you a credit card with a $10,000 limit, and you come close to that, and I extend it to $15,000, would you have some restraint to not spend more? But what if I gave you "unlimited" limits?

I don't see how raising the debt ceiling leads to balanced budgets and surpluses, which is something I've been for since I became a voting adult. Regardless of Democrat or Republican affiliation.
