Clearwater Academy International (Fla.) defensive tackle Isaiah Hastings is originally from Toronto, Canada but moved to the states to compete this year and really broke onto the scene after performing in a few camps such as the Mercer Mega Camp, FSU, Florida and South Florida. West Virginia is one of those schools and teams have been really impressed with his size and skill set after not being able to play last year due to COVID-19. Right now, his recruitment is a completely open book and he doesn't claim any favorites and is giving every school on his list an equal shot. He has only visited Georgia Tech so far and plans to head to Michigan July 31. Defensive line coach AJ Jackson is the lead recruiter for the Mountaineers and is who Hastings talks to most of the time. He is a great coach and he has gotten information on how he will fit into the system and could play multiple spots on the defensive line. He told me that the Mountaineers have been recruiting him hard. Hastings is still exploring where he is going to visit this fall and winter but told me he'd like to check out some places such as West Virginia, Arizona State, Missouri, Indiana, Virginia and many others. Schools are recruiting Hastings because of his versatility and they like his size as well as his twitchiness and how he can basically play all over. There's no sort of timeline for a decision here, but an interesting name to pocket away from a school that has already given the program Akheem Mesidor and Aric Burton in this class.
