I consider 1980 to be the beginning of the "modern era" of WVU football, so to speak. And, with our matchup Thursday with Houston, this will be the first time WVU has faced Houston on the gridiron during the modern era. And after checking, we've never faced them in the history of WVU football. We have never faced them in hoops either, incidentally.

Other P5 teams off the top of my head that WVU hasn't faced in football during the modern era: UCLA, USC, Arizona, Stanford, Washington, Wazzou, Oregon, Oregon State, Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Northwestern, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest.

I'd like to give our new friends from Houston a rude introduction to Mountaineer football.
